🔥💼 "Don't stop until you're proud" - This has been my mantra as I continue my journey in the professional world. Yes, I might lack extensive experience in the marketing realm, but does that mean I lack potential? Absolutely not!💡 Every day, I apply for marketing jobs, unflinchingly. Despite the numerous 'NO's' and the deafening silence from some applications, my spirit remains undeterred. Because I believe that my lack of experience does not define my abilities or my potential to excel.🚀 Instead, I choose to view my situation through a different lens. I see my 'lack of experience' as a blank canvas waiting to be filled with vibrant colors of knowledge, creativity, and success.🎨 I've got a well-rounded education 🎓, a set of versatile skills, an unquenchable thirst to learn, and an immense passion for marketing. I'm a firm believer that these aspects, when combined, can make one a valuable asset to any team. 💼🔝 So, dear recruiters and hiring managers, next time you see a candidate with 'less experience', I urge you to look beyond the conventional criteria. Consider it as an opportunity to shape a fresh, enthusiastic mind into a marketing maestro who could potentially bring a new perspective and fresh ideas to your team.🌟 To those who are in the same boat as me, keep going! Our time will come. And when it does, we'll be ready to seize it with both hands! 🙌 #JobSearch #MarketingJobs #Hiring #Recruitment #Motivation #KeepGoing #NeverGiveUp

Landing a job in marketing or media? Here’s your playbook: Build a killer personal brand! If you don’t know where to start, read some articles, watch some videos or consider hiring a professional. We are often great at marketing products but fall pretty flat marketing ourselves. You need to stand out and rise above the average candidate. Flex your skills on LinkedIn, drop knowledge bombs in posts, and mix it up at industry events. Stay connected and build your network strategically. Follow brands and hiring managers. Keep learning. Engage with your network. More and more often jobs are not even posted, and connections are often the key to breaking through. #MarketingHustle #MediaMaven #BrandYourself #PersonalBrand #JobHunt #Candidates #MediaJobs #MarketingJobs #Tips

I am overwhelmed by the incredible engagement on my recent post about transferable skills. It’s received more than 650,000 impressions, over 2,000 reactions, 100 comments, and 78 reposts in about a week. When I wrote it, I wanted to remind myself that I can add a lot of value in business and that I'm more than just my job title. I honestly didn't realise the topic would resonate with so many of you. On LinkedIn, the gold really is in the comments, and I’ve learned a lot. There were some great insights and perspectives, and it's my intention to lift these up. Special shoutouts to: Frank Tingle for highlighting the importance of competencies over experiences in education. Mick Flaherty CV Writer, CPRW, FIoL for sharing how ex-military personnel can leverage their skills. Komal Parekh,RPR,CRS,CIS for a fantastic example of transitioning from teaching to a new career. I’ll be writing some follow-up posts with these perspectives in mind in the coming weeks to keep the conversation going. There's many of you who I'd love to connect with also. It'll take me some time to reach out, so I appreciate your patience! #transferableskills #decisonmaking #jobsearch #communications

I’d never worked in marketing before, but I once landed a job as a Marketing Communications Manager. My background spans internal, external, media, and change communications. When an agency approached me for a contract role, I decided to interview because I loved the brand and was curious about the opportunity. The interview went well, but there was a concern: I didn’t have a corporate marketing background (although I majored in PR and marketing at uni). My response? My skills in creating content and campaigns are transferable. A target audience is just that—an audience. Whether internal or external, the goal is to craft and deliver a compelling message for a key purpose. I got the job, and it was a fantastic experience. It made me an even better communicator. Don’t let your job title or CV limit you. Your skills are transferable. Hiring managers: recognise transferable skills and take a chance on great talent. They could be a really valuable addition to your team. I thank that manager for taking a chance on me! Apply for that role and have that conversation. You never know where it might lead. #decisionmaking #transferableskills #communications

I left my job role at the beginning of June and I've applied for over 300 jobs, as you can imagine not everyone has got back to me. I had an interview for job role and I never got it due to them presuming I wouldn't do well in a role of a national brand (may I add I've worked with international brands for over 10 years!) I am passionate, hardworking and I will live and breathe any brand I work with, what do people want from me!? 🤯 I've applied for social media manager roles, digital marketing roles, events manager, social media assistant and I get the same response of your either not qualified enough which shows they haven't read my CV or my portfolio or they aren't moving forward. I've redone my CV 3 times with assistance and I've added to my portfolio. So if you read this and you want someone with over 10 years experience in the social media world, can offer remote and want someone passionate then please give me a chance because honestly I don't know what else I can do. In return I will provide great conversation (I love a good chat), hardworking, talk about how much I love my kids and just learn from you because even with all my experience the learning never ever ends and there's no shame in saying that. I've babbled on enough, I'm frustrated with the jobs market and just want that change because I'm lost! #recruitment #jobsearch #marketing #socialmediamanger

Picture this: a recent graduate, fresh out of college, brimming with ambition and determination to conquer the marketing world. But there's a catch – they have zero experience under their belt. Sounds familiar? Don't worry; we've all been there. The good news is that the marketing industry is bursting with opportunities for eager beavers like yourself. From Marketing Coordinators to Social Media Specialists, these entry-level roles are the perfect launchpad for your career. And let's be real, who doesn't love the idea of crafting clever campaigns and engaging with online communities? Now, here's the lesson: experience is valuable, but it's not the be-all and end-all. What truly matters is your ability to learn quickly, adapt to new trends, and showcase your analytical and communication skills. Marketing is all about telling a compelling story, and your unique perspective is what sets you apart. So, what's the actionable advice? First things first, tailor your resume and cover letter to highlight any marketing-related activities you've participated in, even if it was just a class project or a campus club. Employers love to see that spark of enthusiasm. Next, scour job boards like Indeed, BuiltInNYC, and ZipRecruiter for entry-level marketing roles in New York. Look for keywords like "no experience required" or "training provided" – these companies are often eager to mentor and nurture fresh talent. And when you land that interview, don't be afraid to let your personality shine through. Marketing is all about connecting with people, and your ability to communicate effectively will be a major asset. So, what are you waiting for? Tag a friend who's also on the hunt for their first marketing gig, and let's embark on this journey together!
