#WeThePeople are 30 days - not including the Early Voting period - from Election Day 2024 and a week from this historic Harlem D9 Voter Registration and Education Drive! #ToGodBeTheGlory: As voter registration and education is a passion of mine, it is my honor to lead this historic partnership effort with Harlem D9 leaders and their organization’s social justice chairs. Also a BIG shoutout to Pastor Michael Walrond for this idea and for his continuing mentorship. I encourage you to join Harlem’s D9 Organizations on Saturday, October 12, 2024, as we engage in a joint voter education and registration drive. #D9StrongerTogether #HarlemD9StrongerTogether 📍We will start the day off at Angel of Harlem’s restaurant, which is located at 2272 Frederick Douglass Blvd., at 10:30am for a D9 Unity Breakfast. If attending the breakfast, an RSVP is required. Use the QR code on the flier to RSVP. 📍Also, for the breakfast, please be mindful that attendees are paying for their own dish. 📍At 11:50am, we will walk over to the Harriet Tubman Statute for a prayer, press conference, and group picture. 🗳️ And from 1pm-3pm, Harlem D9 organizations will spread out through Harlem and conduct voter registration and education at various locations. 🛑 Stop by and encourage your family, friends, neighbors and community members to stop by one of our 10 locations to register to vote, check their voter registration status and polling site, and to find out what’s on their ballot. #NYCvotes #HarlemVotes #DeltasVote #DeltaVotes #FCBCvotes #FortitudeOnTheFrontline #ThisIsOur1913Moment #WhyOurVoteCantWait #WhyOurAdvocacyCantWait #WeAreTheOnesGodIsWaitingFor #WeAreTheOnesWeAreWaitingFor #CreateAnotherAmerica #PoliticsOfPossibilities

TRUE STORY! I was waiting in line to vote yesterday when I witnessed something remarkable. Since early voting started last week in North Carolina, I thought that by yesterday, the line would have diminished. However, the line was still long, and it was a very warm day. Suddenly the woman standing behind me fainted. In an instant, about 20 people pulled out their phones to call for help, while another 10 rushed to offer her water. After the ambulance arrived and revived her, she insisted on casting her vote. The two medics walked her into the building holding her arms to keep her steady. That’s when the poll volunteers, who were exceptional throughout, began letting anyone needing assistance move to the front of the line as the rest of us moved to the side. It was a beautiful reminder of community and the importance of our voices. Voting isn’t just a right; it’s a responsibility. It’s our chance to shape the future, to stand up for what we believe in, and to ensure our voices are heard. Sadly, many people take this right for granted. Sometimes we get caught up in our lives and forget how vital it is to participate in our democracy. So, how can we encourage people to vote? Here are a few ideas: 1. Make a Voting Plan: Schedule your voting day like an important meeting. Set reminders and encourage friends and family to do the same. 2. Offer Support: If you know someone who might struggle to vote - whether due to transportation issues or health concerns - offer to help them get to the polls. 3. Share Your Experience: Talk about why voting matters to you. Personal stories resonate and can inspire others to take action. 4. Be a Role Model: Show your commitment to civic duty by voting. Your actions can motivate others to follow suit. Let’s make our voices heard! How do you plan to encourage others to vote this year? Please share your thoughts in the comments below. If you found this post insightful, please consider reposting it to spread the message! #Vote #CivicEngagement #CommunityAction
