Where's the vomit emoji when I need it.
I find this both self serving and lacking in the facts. How can you support a convicted felon and a convicted rapist? What do your founders from diverse communities feel about your position? Have you read Project 2025? It is clear that the weatlhy white men have spoken and are planning to change the course of democracy to bend to their economic will, regardless of the loss of rights of the rest of the country. Shame.
Wouldn’t inflationary policies such as removing taxes and replacing them with tariffs skyrocket the costs of teams, skyrocketing the cost of labor which in turn would decimate small early stage tech companies who have limited cash reserves? Wouldn’t the harsh immigration stances reduce the amount of quality talent that companies could bring in, allowing companies based in Europe and Asia to surge ahead? Wouldn’t broad attacks on education limit American’s abilities to learn and adapt to emerging technologies? Wouldn’t effectively eliminate a family’s abilities to plan by banning birth control and IVF effect the willingness of potential employees willing to take risks on promising startups? I can go on and on, but either way, a big swing and a miss. Policies that benefit small tech companies are ones that promote economic and social stability, giving individuals the comfort to take risks and build something great, not what’s offered by Trump.
Perhaps a bigger & better, a critically more important, more saliant question to ask yourselves may well be: Which Presidential Candidate better serves our US Democracy! Surely Democracy > Little Tech! Why ignore what is really(really) at stake in this national election cycle! Why now, why turn away from character + integrity + getting sh^t done + the environment? You two Marc & Ben, like Elon, Chamath, Sacks you each have a pretty big microphone. Please if you would, do proceed a bit more thoughtfully & carefully. Your political posture seems to be very misguided & quite a bit short-sided. What say you? Cheers!
Silicon Valley going MAGA was not on my bingo card, but here we are.
Masters of talking up their own book. Missing the point all together…
I'll tune in to hear their thoughts but the bid to force Pence to refuse to certify the election is impossible to look past. IMO what's good for tech is a free market, the moment we give way to the power of one man to completely defy the system we are giving way to a new world where that one man can then control all things. All policies aside, electing someone who failed to overturn an election seems like an invitation to refuse to turn over power again. Not sure about you but no matter how I've ever felt about a politician there has always been something great about knowing that the institution itself was beyond their individual power. Choosing Trump seems more e/acc than it does American.
Ben Horowitz I'm disappointed. Like others, I'll hear you out, but i believe there's more downside for democracy with Trump. Democracy and the rule of law has tended to be better for business, not to mention human rights and civil rights. Love to see you and Reid Hoffman debate this live.
And unfollowed and disconnecting with the team. Gross.
