Happy Pride! This year, we kicked off our celebrations by joining Spokane Pride Parade. It’s our third year being part of this wonderful event and the positive energy it brings. Our employees also showed their passion for Pride and sustainability at a Seward Park Beach Clean-up, a collaborative event between Seattle Pride and the Puget Soundkeepers. Collectively, over 100 lbs of trash were picked up! We’d like to give a big shout out to our employees who joined these events and showed allyship in their own way.

#CSR strategies don’t need to be overthought. Sometimes it is just about your people and placing value in them.

It's hot. Darn hot! I'm traveling for work this week, and I feel fortunate that my trip to the Florida Panhandle coincides with the Panhandle Watermelon Festival. Although I'll likely be sweating at the Clay Walker concert tonight, at least there will be refreshing watermelon to help keep us cool. I hope you have a great weekend! #FinancialAdvisor #FinancialPlan #FinancialPlans #financialplanner #financialplanning #financialadvice #financialgoals #financialadvisers #financialadviser #financialadvisors #financetips #wealthmanagement #wealthplanning #wealthadvisor #LakelandFinancialAdvisor #LakelandFL #Lakeland #FloridaFinancialAdvisor #AllenandCompany #AllenAndCompanyOfFL #LPLAdvisors #LPLFinancial

The March Episode of Wally Life is now on YouTube! Lake Wallenpaupack is a big part of recreational life in the Pocono Mountains. A hundred years ago this summer, the construction of the Dam on the Wallenpaupack River formed Lake Wallenpaupack. Several men died while building the dam, some under mysterious circumstances. To create Lake Wallenpaupack, communities were demolished, cemeteries moved, schoolhouses razed, and Native American burial grounds were all submerged under the new lake. Join us as we explore the construction of the Wallenpaupack Dam project. March is Women's History month and we take a look at the news making headlines in 1925 which read "A Town That Is Run by Women". The story made national news that summer and was unheard of in the Untied States at the time. The Pocono Town that created National Headlines was Lackawaxen, Pennsylvania, where in 1925, almost every business was run by women. Hotels, restaurants, butcher shops, cigar stores, clothing stores, movie theater, taxis, tour services, Post Office, milk and mail delivery routes and more. We salute the women of 1925, who were decades ahead of their time in the United States. Lacawac Sanctuary has a long history in the Pocono Mountains. From it's connections to the creation of Lake Wallenpaupack to being the first second home in the Poconos Mountains and quite possibly the Pocono's first vacation property for rent. Lacawac is not only a great place to explore but it is also an important scientific resource known for being the most southern protected glacial lake in the United States formed during the Ice Age. This segment is part 2 of a 4 part series written and narrated by Chad Reed Watres, the great grandson of Colonel Watres, who had the original idea to dam the Wallenpaupack River to harness the Hydroelectric potential of the river to power local rail transportation. Part 2 covers the History of Lacawac in the early 20th century. Stay tuned for the additional segments of the series coming up next month.

Today, January 4th, holds special significance as World Braille Day 2024 unfolds. Braille, recognized as a sophisticated method of reading and communication, serves as a symbol of hope for individuals facing visual impairments or dealing with the challenges of limited vision. On this notable occasion, we reflect on the profound importance of commemorating the birth anniversary of Louis Braille, the visionary behind this indispensable system. The global community, with unanimous acknowledgment, pays sincere homage to Braille on World Braille Day, emphasizing the enduring importance of this tactile script in fostering awareness among the general public. The primary objective of dedicating World Braille Day to scrutiny is to underscore the widespread acknowledgment of the Braille method. Even in the contemporary era, the omission of Braille format integration by institutions such as banks, hospitals, and restaurants is a matter of concern. This neglect, along with the apparent lack of encouragement, denies individuals facing visual impairment rightful access to information, perpetuating barriers that should have been dismantled by now. In the face of this ongoing challenge, a heartfelt wish is extended for a Happy Braille Day! #WorldBrailleDay #Inclusion #Accessibility #BrailleAwareness
