Several factors are driving EV consumer hesitancy, including a lack of affordable models, range anxiety, charging time, poor availability of charging infrastructure, fear of high maintenance costs and concerns over resale value. Of these factors, the slow rollout of charging infrastructure has emerged as one of the top causes of EV hesitancy among car buyers. The 2024 EY Mobility Consumer Index (MCI) survey offers valuable insights into the answers. #energytransition #electricvehicles #electrification #batteries

Canadian interest in EVs dropped for the second straight year according to J.D. Power Canada’s recent consumer survey. The main reasons cited for rejecting an EV are concerns with driving range (68%), the higher cost (61%), and a lack of public charging station availability (60%). Failing to address these challenges while simultaneously mandating EV sales is a recipe for failure. An honest conversation about the barriers to adoption and how to manage the transition to electric is long overdue. https://lnkd.in/e8hfKJ68

…Car buyers have a lot of questions and concerns about switching to EVs outside of range and charging worries. Electric vehicle battery degradation, and the high cost of replacing a dead EV battery, is something many buyers have anxiety about. Maybe it’s time to stop worrying, according to new research that shows modern EV batteries are likely to last 20 years—or more—before needing to be replaced#ev

Efficiency can cut EV prices by $5k, charging costs by nearly a third Increased EV efficiency isn’t just better for the environment. It’s also better for owners’ wallets, reports the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE). In a new white paper, the group notes that boosting efficiency allows for smaller battery sizes, which in turn cuts costs. Most EVs average 2.5 miles per kwh, according to the https://lnkd.in/d4hKQiFF

🌍⚡Germany's recent drop in EV sales should serve as a stark reality check for the U.S. Continuing to push for an all-electric vehicle future while ignoring the glaring problems will leave the backbone of this country unable to thrive. The state of EV adoption is lagging overly-ambitious climate mandates, and as subsidies disappear, affordability and accessibility issues arise, exacerbated by high up-front costs and a lack of charging facilities. The solution lies in diversifying our energy portfolio. By expanding our options beyond just electric vehicles, we can ensure a more sustainable and inclusive transition to cleaner transportation. + Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/gr8dUNfT -------------------------------------------------------------- #EVRealityCheck #AffordabilityMatters #AccessibleFuture #SustainablePath
