Great article !! #SpotOn !! But the $1 million question is ... How do you identify those #Professional #Drivers that you have so eloquently written about, prior to ever hiring them? Sure, #TrialAndError is great but that's costly and time consuming. And not very #Predictable or #Reliable. 🙁 How does a carrier know that they have a #TopPerformer in their midst and are actively recruiting, not letting them get away and be hired by the competition? Something you wrote is astounding and incredibly insightful ... "Any truck driver can develop skill over time to effectively back into tight places and maneuver around obstacles or traffic. But the professional always acts with integrity, with bedrock safety in mind. Their ability to deal with stress, weather, equipment failures, other drivers, law enforcement, customers and employers will determine how professional they are, and that reflects on the entire community and the companies they’re affiliated with." Hmmm ... It seems to me that if someone could figure that out ... they would have discovered the📜 #HolyGrail of #DriverRecruiting !! 💡 .

This article by the Commercial Carrier Journal was written at the end of January and the problem is still & WILL BE ongoing. No one is looking at the real issue. Titled “Navigating the complexities of the truck driver shortage”, but it’s really not that complex. It boils down to one thing: TRAINING (or lack there of). Driver shortages result from: refusal to pay attention to detail, lack of experience, unawareness of safety & compliance, outdated technology, and the wrong infrastructure. In my eyes, there’s not a shortage of drivers out there. Drivers are being pursued more than ever in my opinion. Companies just don’t know where to look. 160 Driving Academy is the largest commercial driving school in the United States with 155 CDL Schools nationwide as we prepare to train 45,000+ students this year. Finally, a network you can trust. Partnering with 160 gives you the peace of mind that the trucks in your fleet will be driven by the most dedicated and competent drivers. The BEST drivers in the market backed by industry-leading training. Something you just don’t see nowadays. If you are struggling with how you currently go about driver’s training/recruiting, I would love to have a conversation with you. It could change the direction of your entire fleet for the better!
