COMING SOON? Aalo Atomics is developing this advanced sodium-cooled reactor that draws inspiration from our MARVEL microreactor. The 30 MW thermal reactor will be optimized for mass manufacturing and use established commercial supply chains to help deliver clean, low-cost heat and power. The company recently signed a siting agreement with INL to build its first reactor at the lab for hydrogen production testing. We made a video! Aalo Atomics is a young company with a lot to prove, but we want to get in the habit of communicating what we’re doing, and why we’re doing it. In the next few months, we’ll start work on our full-scale physical prototype. We’re going to have to overcome a lot of engineering challenges, including the creation of our automated refueling hardware, heat exchangers, and more. Expect videos, tweets, and long-form posts about what we’re building, what problems we’re facing, and what solutions we’re testing to make the best nuclear systems we can.
