Transforming patient experience with empathy

What will pediatric healthcare look like in 2049? That’s right, not 2024… 2049! I joined the amazing Aiyemobisi "Bisi" Williams to talk about my vision for pediatric care. In this podcast I share my personal background as a pediatric patient, our work at Empath Labs, and the world we are creating. I also dive deep on our methodology for how we engage and empower patients. Please have a listen (https://lnkd.in/eFkvUxyi), I’m really proud of this podcast! It is perhaps the best articulation of our mission and vision.  And if time is thin, here are some of the key takeaways: What is the vision? 💪 We empower children with healthy routines so they can grow up great 🌟 Delightful patient experiences make children engage in their care 🤸♀️ We reach children in their language, play! 💕 Healthcare becomes equal parts health and equal parts care 👩🔧 Pediatric care is built FOR children (not "little adults") and personalized Why am I confident in this vision? 🤝 What is best for patients is directly aligned with business incentives 🔬 Research shows that better patient experience = improved adherence 🥇 Caregivers will expect the same luxury experience they receive in other avenues of their lives e.g. retail 💝 Building engaging patient experiences builds brand loyalty with patients   What do you think? What are your prognostications for 2049? I’d love to hear :) #design #motivationmonday #pediatric #pediatrichealth #health #healthcare #healthcaredesign

As always Aaron, listening to you talk is so energizing and inspiring. So much of what you have to say resonates. As for 2049 - I hope there’s a generation of innovators, leaders, and world changers who are emotionally intelligent enough to not leave children as an afterthought. I think you hit the nail on the head when you talked about preventative care, childhood trauma, and SDoH - lots of work to do there from a public health perspective and support child health holistically. “Kids are not small adults” - is true in so many ways, but they will someday be adults that are affected by their childhood experiences. So we need to include them in their health journey and respect the emotional impact of health interventions on their development. As a parent, I try to have a similar mentality. There’s so much of being a child that is chosen for them - go here, stay there, sit still, be quiet, etc. The rise of gentle and respectful parenting has taught me and I hope many other millennial parents how we can meet kids where they are and INVOLVE them. Why not extend this to healthcare? Brilliant stuff, as always!!!
