In just two weeks, we’re turning 20! 🎉 2️⃣0️⃣ Our journey has been marked by groundbreaking achievements, made possible by the support of the brilliant scientific minds behind our innovations. One of the key moments in our history was the launch of Quantum Blue, a game-changing phytase enzyme, in 2012. To honour this milestone, we’ve reconnected with members of the original launch team, Mike Bedford, Tiago Tedeschi dos Santos, Peter Wilcock, Dieter Suida and Craig Wyatt, to share their insights on how Quantum Blue became the success it is today. 📚 Swipe through the slides to hear their stories. #Anniversary #Phytase #CompanyCelebration #AnimalNutrition #Innovation

Excited to share our latest research findings on maize seed-borne microbiomes! 🌽 In this work, I could collaborate with Beatriz Barcelos from Professor Fabio Olivares's lab and Francisnei Pedrosa-Silva from my lab (Thiago Venancio's lab)! we compared the seed-borne microbiome of a commercial hybrid variety and a landrace maize variety. We found out that the seed-borne bacterial community of the commercial variety was uniform and homogeneous, while the landrace variety's microbiome showed greater diversity. Although devoid of a functional nitrogen fixation apparatus, both microbiomes exhibited genes linked to phytohormone production and inorganic phosphate solubilization, with the landrace variety notably excelling in these aspects. We also recovered 18 MAGs, with 4 belonging to potential new species. Sorghum is an extremely drought-resistant crop with huge potential for bioenergy use. It has a large and deep nodal root system, and its associated microbiome enables the uptake of water and nutrients from and the deposition of soil organic carbon into soil profiles, which are key contributors to the crop’s resilience and sustainability. The goal of this study, which was just recently published, was to increase our understanding of bioenergy sorghum nodal root bud development. Check it out to learn more!
