According to the article “Over the past four months, developers of technology to produce and distribute low-emission hydrogen have raised more than $1 billion in venture investment, per Crunchbase data.” Thats a lot of money from private equity going into low-carbon #hydrogen technologies, which are projected to be economically feasible and scalable in the comming years. At the very least, that is what these investors will expect for their money (above market returns).

While green hydrogen is by no means a new concept, investors’ stepped-up interest in the space indicates they see the requisite combination of government incentives, tech-enabled cost reductions, and market receptiveness in place now to produce compelling outcomes. #greenhydrogen #climatetech #climateVC

 Excited to share my piece on Hydrogen startups in businessline. Here's a quick summary: Green hydrogen is the fuel of the future , attracting capital and attention from across the world. The Indian hydrogen startup ecosystem is nascent, with only a few startups raising their initial funding. However, several challenges need addressing for these startups to thrive. 1.   Customers are not yet ready to buy green hydrogen in the absence of government incentives. 2.   Hydrogen manufacturing (electrolyser) companies worldwide are far ahead, and Indian startups may need to focus on hydrogen applications. 3.   Earning profits in the hydrogen industry is tough and takes a while. Estonian greentech company Stargate Hydrogen bags huge amount of seed funding! Tallinn-based greentech Stargate Hydrogen has completed a successful seed round of €42 million. The round includes an equity investment by UG Investments and grant financing from IPCEI (Important Project of Common European Interest) framework for hydrogen technologies, with the participation from other investors and grants. The company has come up with a green hydrogen technology to fight against climate change in the industries such as steelmaking, fertilizers and chemicals. What new they bring to the table is to count the cost of green energy. The funding will feed their goal to scale up their patented electrolyser technology.
