NTE Electronics, Inc has gone out of business! That's really too bad. They had some interesting components in the consumer electronics market. I only had one design using anything that will need to be replaced (a fully integrated 30 dB range, 5-LED signal level indicator IC, P/N: NTE1866). It was admittedly a pretty antiquated part, given all that's possible with simple MCUs nowadays, but still quite useful and very simple to implement. I am using it in a small PCBA for display of analog line-level audio signals. Now that board will need to be redesigned, sooner than I would have liked. I have exactly 52 of the NTE1866 ICs left in stock, and was planning on having another 50 PCBAs assembled this month. Oh well. I might as well do the redesign now. Uggh! Apparently, NTE, based in New Jersey since the 1970s, was purchased a couple years ago and the new owners couldn't (or at least didn't) keep it running. A lot of electronics manufacturing folks lost their jobs. It's very sad. We need more US-based electronics manufacturers, not fewer. I hope everyone lands safely somewhere soon. 😞
𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝟰𝟬+ 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗔 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 For more than 40 years, NTE Electronics Inc thrived with quality products, off-the-shelf delivery, and remarkable growth, earning respect across the industry while maintaining profitability under strong leadership. It is with great sadness that we announce the closure of NTE Electronics Inc. Following the sale of the company in late 2022, the new ownership's negligence and mismanagement in the past two years has resulted in financial difficulties, forcing the company to cease operations. We are deeply grateful to our dedicated employees, loyal customers, suppliers, representatives, and partners who have supported NTE Electronics Inc. for over four decades. It has been a privilege to serve you, and we sincerely apologize for any complications and disappointment we may have caused during these challenging times. Thank you for your trust and continued support.
