Anisha Rassai and I were chatting over coffee yesterday, and the word that kept coming up was authenticity. In today’s tech-driven world, the relentless efficiency of sales and outreach can often feel overwhelming. The constant follow-ups after signing up for a free trial—emails, LinkedIn requests, texts—start to feel more like pressure than genuine connection. I recently signed up for a free trial of an interesting software. Within 24 hrs I had 2 emails, a LI DM, and a phone call. All of the comms were hard sells. Does this work? The companies that truly stand out to me are those that lead with authenticity. They focus on sharing their journey, creating real value, and sparking curiosity—not just closing a deal. Those are the businesses that earn my trust (and my money). In a landscape dominated by automation, I believe the real winners will be the ones who strike the perfect balance between IQ (smart tech) and EQ (emotional connection). Does anyone else feel the same? Off the soapbox What do you think? Will authenticity become the new competitive edge?

I agree-I get so many of those hard sell outreaches and they never work. The goal is to be top of mind when someone needs what you are offering (and make sure they know they need you)!
