Ermin can be a name for a nice handsome man. Interestingly, it can be even a protein. Let us dive into the story of the protein named Ermin and this story can even be more interesting than porn or Kiwi and Ausie underbelly TV show. I came across it while I was reading the paper on cytoskeleton regulation of Wang et al. 2020, Ermin is a p116RIP -interacting protein promoting oligodendroglial differentiation and myelin maintenance. Here is the link, https://lnkd.in/eb2qJdRd You can see Ermin is a cytoskeleton-related oligodendrocyte-specific protein associated with cytoskeleton regulation. It is also called also Juxtanodin. By finding recombination frequencies for many gene pairs, we can make linkage maps that show the order and relative distances of the genes on the chromosome. Antisense Oligonucleotides (ASOs) are short, synthetic nucleic acid sequences designed to bind specifically to complementary RNA sequences. They can influence gene expression by altering RNA processing, stability, or translation. ASOs are often used to induce exon skipping by binding to pre-mRNA and altering splicing patterns, leading to the exclusion of specific exons. This technique has important therapeutic applications, particularly for genetic disorders where splicing defects or mutations disrupt normal protein function. What are Additive genetic effects? Additive genetic effects occur when two or more genes source a single contribution to the final phenotype, or when alleles of a single gene \(in heterozygotes\) combine so that their combined effects equal the sum of their individual effects.
