🌟 Friendship: The Secret Ingredient to Thriving 🌟 In this fun and insightful chat between Simon Sinek and Trevor Noah, they dive into a topic we all know but often overlook—friendship. While we’re busy levelling up as leaders and chasing success, it’s easy to forget that those deep, meaningful connections are what actually keep us going strong. Take a break, watch the video, and think about how your friendships can make life (and work!) a whole lot richer. Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about what we achieve, but who we share it with. https://lnkd.in/gPpY_kCp

Is it time to invest in more friendships at work? How might our teams benefit? I don’t love much of the content that Simon Sinek brings forward - for the simple reason that it seems better suited to large companies and teams. Yet so many of us work on small teams and many teams - which means you can’t do a “start with why” exercise everywhere you go. This piece is quite the opposite. You can work at being a better friend and team member wherever you are. The soundbite that jumps off the page in this clip is: “WE BUILD TRUST BY ASKING FOR HELP” If every team could start next week by creating the space and safety for people to ask for help, I bet energy, connection, learning, and innovation start skyrocketing. What have you seen work for you?

Only 200 hours? Seems a bit short doesnt it? By that yardstick, we should all be friends with our colleagues, whom we spend more than 200 hours in, in just a month, assuming an 8-hour workday. Of course thats simplistic. More crucial is the level of interaction, intimacy and inter-relations. Would naturally be harder for bosses to make and be close to subordinates, though i have notice most of them are pally with their secretaries and/or assistants, so there must be some truth in that. As the Chinese saying goes: "Jin shui lou tai xian de yue" or loosely translated as the pavillion closest to the river gets the moon's reflection first (yes to my Chinese teachers' shock and horror, i scored A1 in all my Chinese national exams, outperforming even my English grades, which is the biggest irony to me and those who know me...) So put in 200 hours this year with those whom you deem worthy of that time and resources! *** "...It Takes at Least 200 Hours to Make a Close Friendship, and More to Maintain It Working to keep up friendships can be logistically tough but good for us physically, mentally and emotionally..." https://lnkd.in/geMnAP-N

Sophia’s choice Both in professional and private life we need to make difficult choice. I had to make one difficult private choice yesterday - attend either the 29th anniversary of finishing university studies or 33rd anniversary of finishing grammar school. Which one would you choose? In this case emotions played an important role. In business, we should not make emotional choice. We should stay reasonable, pragmatic and in line with the company vision and mission. For me it always helped to simply write down pros and cons of the options and giving them relevant weight of importance. Checking the decision criteria with colleagues also helps. What works for you?

🌱 A Pause for Reflection: Friendship, Vulnerability & Connection Taking a moment to step away from the usual technical discussions to talk about something that often gets overlooked in our fast-paced lives—human connection. I’ve always admired Simon Sinek’s thinking, and this recent conversation he had with Trevor Noah really struck a chord with me. They dive into topics like loneliness, vulnerability, and the importance of true friendship—things that matter just as much (if not more) than the professional grind we all focus on. One idea that stood out: Friendship isn’t about being perfect, it’s about being present. Vulnerability is what builds real, lasting bonds—whether in our personal or professional lives. In a world where we're always "on," it's easy to forget the power of genuine connection. But these relationships are the foundation for everything we do, both personally and professionally. How do you nurture meaningful connections in your life? link to de video: https://lnkd.in/dpysdDnn #SimonSinek #TrevorNoah #Vulnerability #Connection #PersonalGrowth
