A very impressive start to the second day of Internship Experience UK 2024 - Biggest Internship Programme in the UK!🎉✅ Firstly, we began with a very powerful keynote from Laura Tye who is the legal director at Clyde & Co, who talked about her remarkable journey to her current role. Overview: This exhibited her resilience and how she seized every opportunity. She also depicted how Flexibility is significant. One of my favorite sections of today was having the privilege of hearing from Victoria Stedman who is a Commercial Colleague Engagement Manager at British Airways which was facilitated by Rachel Delaney who was Head of B2C Marketing at Bright Network. - This was one of my favorites as there were so many key highlights and challenges. - Highlights: British Airways (BA)Commercial Vision: A united team delivering an industry-leading revenue margin through brilliant service. - Challenges: Labelling economic instability, airspace closures, climate change, and other dynamics of business traveling. After this, we had an impactful session with Daisy Thompson (Sales Sustainability Lead, Past Graduate at Nestle) and Juetong Lang who gave us a true insight into Sustainability and Perspectives of Innovation. 1. The significance of Sustainability in the Food Sector? - Environmentally: One-third of global greenhouse gas emissions come from food systems. - Socially she addressed issues like child labor, access to education, forced labor, gender equity, and more. - Always collaborating with customers through sharing learnings, executing sustainability, and upskilling teams. 2. The Significance of Innovation Product & Technology Development - focusing as much as possible on health and competency building by integrating with process components. Competitiveness - Enhancing competition and protecting the environment with drive and growth. Nestle emphasizes a rigorous multifactional cooperative effort to create quickly, from idea to reality. Additionally, we subsequently had a meeting with Marie Fukuura, Commerical Controller, Off-Trade, Premium Retail for Budweiser Brewing Group UK&I. Her session was so effective and truly eye-opening. Key things that were outlined by her were to: 1. Lead & Grow the Category 2. Optimize Businesses 3. Digitize & Monetize our Ecosystem With one of the biggest B2B platforms globally, despite heavy challenges like lockdown, instability, and even inflation, beers remain the most affordable and beloved product across all demographics. As this empathizes the significance of a WINNING Portfolio as the insights today underscore the dynamic landscape of this industry! Today I took part in the 2nd day of the 4 day IEUK 2024 virtual internship programme for Business, Operations, Marketing. Today was a busy day, with a variety of helpful sessions that focused on introducing the world of work and the big businesses that are apart of it. Key Takeaways: First session - Keynote talk with Laura Tye, a Legal director in the insurance and financial disputes sector: 💡 The journey from education to a career is dynamic and ever-changing. 💡Tips to succeed in your career - Resilience, confidence, curiosity, ambition and finally, that nothing is fixed in your career. Second session - Sector 101 with Vicky Steadman, a Commercial Colleague Engagement Manager at British Airways: 💡The depth of big company's such as British Airways is enormous. 💡The role of the commercial team in generating revenues while enhancing customer experiences, and the ways to excel at this. 💡The challenges faced by man businesses such as geopolitical conflicts and economic instability, and how to solve them. 💡Top tip to put yourself out there and grasp all opportunities when building a career. Session 3-7 - Sector Specialist talks: ✨ Nestle - Daisy Thompson (Sales sustainability lead) and Juetong Laing (Product Technology Engineering Graduate) ✨Budweiser - Marie Fukuura (Commercial Controller, Off-Trade) ✨Mondelez International - Aileen Nathan (Senior Sales Director) ✨Alpha Insights - Charles Frost (Client Development Manager) ✨Bright Network - Lydia Cronin (Lead Generation Manager) 💡These sessions all provided valuable insights into the different business's out there and how they all function in their respective sectors. 💡I learnt about the interconnectedness of business's and the relationship between different operation teams. 💡The different roles available for graduates and the ways to secure them effectively. 🌟A personal highlight for me - the difference between B2B and B2C marketing, as well as the importance of demand generation in marketing. Final session - Graduate office hours - Opportunity to ask industry employees questions - British Airways, Alpha Sights, P&G, PWC, Budweiser, Mondelez International, ICAEW and Nestle 💡This session provided incredibly useful insights into the skills employers are looking for in many industries related to business, operations and marketing. 💡Insider information on how to succeed in interviews and the application process in general. Today was a blast, and I can't wait to learn more and develop more skills on day 3!

It was amazing to hear about their story of the Easter egg and its link to sustainability. Charles Frost at AlphaSights shared insights on redefining B2B sales through a unique approach combining codified and human knowledge, connecting global leaders with the expertise they need to thrive. A massive thank you to Rachel Delaney, Head of B2C Marketing at Bright Network, for hosting today’s enlightening sessions. These insights are particularly relevant to my role with the Exeter Global Visionaries Society, where we focus on global issues and innovative solutions. The knowledge gained today will be invaluable in our discussions and projects aimed at driving sustainable and impactful change. As I continue my internship this week, including the current project with British Airways' "BA Better World" sustainability initiative, I am eager to apply these learnings and contribute to meaningful projects that align with my passion for sustainability and global impact.
