Do you have an irrational but very real fear of the camera? It’s something I can relate to entirely (I hate being photographed too!). All too often business people will experience terrible anxiety about booking a photographer and having a shoot. But not all photoshoots - or photographers - are the same. As a personal branding photographer who does a great deal of work with people who are naturally uncomfortable in front of the camera, I follow a proven process which helps banish anxiety. I use techniques which make our shoot easy-going, relaxed and fun. This includes: - Lots of communication before, during and after the shoot. - Pre-shoot calls to get to know you better and understand your business and what you want to achieve with your pictures. - The option of pre-shoot or on-set wardrobe styling and image consultancy, or simple guidance on what to bring and how to prep for your shoot. - Planning calls, location scouting, mood boards and shot lists for larger branding packages. - Gentle, relaxed guidance on posing, and techniques to help you feel super-confident in front of the camera. - High-end retouching, including skin & hair enhancement, teeth whitening, wardrobe clean up, and more, all included as standard. - Unlimited usage rights, in perpetuity. Thinking of hiring a professional photographer for your next special occasion? Unsure about the process of getting professional portraits taken? Here are some tips to help ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. 1. Time Management: Start getting quotes from photographers at least 1.5 months before your desired session date. Many photographers have a turnaround time of 1-2 weeks, so plan ahead to meet your deadlines. 2. Style & Research: Understand the style of the photographer you choose. Make sure it aligns with your vision for the photoshoot. Request samples if you're unsure. Check photographers' websites for portfolios, pricing, and testimonials. I personally don't post my clients intimate moments on my website so reach out to me for a private gallery of samples of my work as I shoot graduation, maternity, birthday and couples portraits and many more. 3. Connection: I value connection with my clients. Schedule a consultation call with potential photographers to gauge compatibility. A good connection can positively impact the outcome of your photos. Ensure that you vibe well with your chosen photographer. 4. Finalize Details Early: Plan for ample time between your appointments (e.g., hair, makeup) and the photo session to avoid rushing or stress. Order outfits at least 2 weeks before the session to avoid last-minute wardrobe changes or issues. Photoshoots should be a FUN experience and the capturing of your special moment deserves to be an intentional one. I prioritize my clients enjoyment the entire way through and it is so wonderful when we have just as much fun throughout the process as we do during the session. Models who want to submit their images/portfolios to modeling agencies first need to create “modeling digitals” or “polaroids” to show their current look in the most natural way. I get many questions such as, “What’s a Polaroid?” Why Every Model Needs Polaroids Agencies and casting directors often require Polaroids – not having them can cost you the job Whether you’re a new model who has never done an official photo shoot or a model with years of experience, good Polaroids are a gateway to better shoots and more work. And, since it is standard industry practice for agencies and casting directors to request Polaroids. Agency digitals used to be taken with a Polaroid camera, hence the name. These days, “Polaroids” don’t need to come from a Polaroid camera. A digital camera is fine! What are Polaroids? Polaroids show what you look like when you walk through the door. It’s important for photographers and casting directors to know what you look like before the makeup, hair, lighting and Photoshop. “Clients trust Polaroids,” said photographer John Fisher, he added, “They assume you are going to show up for a casting or job with the same hair, weight and general appearance as in your Polaroid.”

How To Confidently Book In Your Photo Session, And Love Yourself For Doing It: Part 3 Does this sound familiar? “I don’t know what to WEAR! Hellllp” This is another popular one. So there’s two things you need to know:  1. Once your personal brand photoshoot is all booked, I will send you a super exclusive ‘Welcome Guide’, and a ‘What to wear guide’. It covers everything you need to think about when choosing what to wear, such as brand colours, accessories etc. I actually have a Pinterest board with examples of outfits perfect for personal brand photoshoots. Also you could even treat yourself to a personal assistant at a department store so that they can advise you on what looks good on you. They have the experience, plus many places service is free. If you're only going to wear the outfit for the photoshoot then as long as you keep it in perfect condition then you can return it the day after for your money back. Although I imagine you will look and feel so good in it, that you will definitely want to keep it!!! 😁 2. Above all else, you want to be comfortable, and you want to look like yourself! I can give you all the suggestions in the world, but you still want to recognise who's in the photos….AND feel ahhh-mazing 💃🏼  Does this help to answer your question? I've noticed this a lot - there will be a long list of credits on a production: hair and makeup, stylists, models, photographers, creative direction... But retouching won't be credited or mentioned at all. This has even happened to me on occasion. As a genuine, non-accusatory question; why? Why is there sometimes a reluctance to credit retouching? Even if the photographer does the finish work themselves, it's a role and skill worth mentioning. Personally I don't lose sleep over it - I'm sure there are genuine reasons for leaving the credit out, and I'd always prefer a word of mouth referral than the credit anyways. Credits don't pay the bills, and my ego can handle the hit 😉 But it is a curious trend. I'd love for any creative managers or photographers with insights to share their thoughts. Does this happen on purpose, or is it just an oversight? Is there a fear that acknowledging the editing diminishes the final product?
