Overseas family medicine consultants looking for a job in the UAE need to be aware of following negative aspects: 1. Working hours and patterns are poor for a decent lifestyle. Most medical centres have split shift 09-13 and 17-21 which means you come home at 22 each day for 6 days a week. 2. Poor pay for family medicine doctors because its often capped at 25-30k in Abu Dhabi and even worse in Dubai. DOH pays the same amount of fee for insurance hence, it does not matter whether medical centres hire a consultant or specialist that’s why pay is now capped at 30k AED Max. 3. Location is another factor; Dubai hardly has any family medicine consultant posts. In Abu Dhabi, you can get a job for the above-mentioned pay and working hours which is not worth it. Most remote locations like Al Ain and the west area of Abu Dhabi have some jobs for the same pay but you would think twice because of the distance from most vibrant locations. 4. Medical centres want you to sign a contract at least for one year with no leave for the first year, you would have to pay all DOH expenses for the first year if leave early, some offer ½ pay for the first week of work etc. Only well known brands here in UAE offer pay similar to Qatar but jobs hardly ever come up until some one leaves or they open a new branch which can take a long time. So please think twice and do not rely on these fake “family medicine consultant” jobs by findadd.com, destroy career, or stupid.com (I hope you get the point).
