NEW #TuesdayTips! Yesterday here in the USA it was Dr.Martin Luther King Day, which is a big volunteer "Day of Service" with thousands of events across the country. These tips are good for evaluating any kind of group volunteer service day, wherever you are in the world. After any big volunteer event you should do an evaluation of the activity with feedback from all participants, with a "Plus/Delta Debrief". "Plus/Delta" evaluation and/or survey questions should be specific to the objectives and goals of the event, and my tips include a few basic ideas to get you started, and more resource links. #Working with #youth is very #exciting and certainly never a dull moment. While for most completing school it's imperative to have a job as most homes need the additional #income. Once the youth find #jobopportunities more than often they get into a comfort zone and find it tough to #furthereducate themselves. This is a cycle I am all to familiar with myself. I enjoy our 121 sessions to sit and gain their insight as to why they working, what is the #shorttermplan, #longtermplan and my favourite when we establish a #personaldevelopmentplan specific for the #individual. One youth really really wants to be a firefighter. His #maingoal is to work to #help the #family for next 18months and in this time get ready to sign up for Firefighter. The group chuckled as we in a call center right. Told the team to hang on we open to hear from each one. He was shy and i assured him a session later to discuss more. Later on he opened up, his heart was made up 4yrs ago when a shack in his area was alight. He saved an elderly man and his dog, the firefighters gave him a special thanks as the #firetruck couldnt reach in time. He never forgot that feeling of #fulfillment and kept dreaming about being a firefighter. He doesnt know any firefighters and wouldnt know where to begin to get more #information. He recently got access to a smart device and needed support to navigate. We spent time searching and found the #Firefighteropenday and the Volunteer Wildfire Services, they hosting a fundraiser this Sunday https://lnkd.in/erxhMkpF He was ecstatic and gave me #biggesthug ever. He was super chuffed that I acknowledged his #dream #preciousmoment 100% #commitment #motivation to #KPIs in the timeframes and with excellent customer care. His going to #rescue those customers, put out all the #escalations and take #bonus home every month #livehisbestlife Taking the time to understand their why, then work out when they plan, to do what they truelly want to do and how, makes a high impact. #BPOIndustry has been a lifeline for most and whilst each one is #happy to be #employed let's never forget the #dreams and #aspirations. #leaders #engage #connect #knowtheirwhy #listentounderstand #settingexpectations #coaching #121matters #lovewhatwedo #aspiretoinspire #howtotrainafirefighter It's #International #FirefighterDay 04 May 2024. The Police Foundation (UK) Director Rick Muir believes that the potential for citizen volunteering in police and public safety has been neglected for too long, and points to the success of volunteering approaches in a number of other countries including the US and Japan as an indication that placing citizen participation as central to policy discussions could help to solve some of the big challenges UK policing faces. ❝The 20th century saw a marginalisation of public safety volunteering. This was due to a mixture of the decline of traditional community bonds, the rise in crime and the growing complexity of police work, much of which can only be done by specialists.❞ ❝Deploying volunteers in community facing roles can help policing become more proactive and preventative, and there is plenty of evidence that people in volunteering roles tend to come from a more diverse range of backgrounds than police officers.❞ ❝I am convinced that activating citizen participation is a big part of the answer to a number of the big challenges we face. One of my core principles is giving back, and one way I try to actualize this principle is through civic engagement and advocacy. I recently traveled to Washington, DC to meet with elected officials. As Americans, it’s easy for us to take democracy for granted, but I feel that this type of advocacy is both a great privilege and a solemn duty. I encourage you, as an entrepreneur who envisions a better future, to devote some time and energy to a cause that you believe in. Even if you can’t travel long distances, consider donating a few hours of services to a worthy nonprofit. This could make a world of difference to them, and, especially if you’re just starting out, it could also provide you with critical delivery practice and generate references that you can use in your sales process. It's fitting that our Community Review Process takes place during National Volunteer Week! We take pride in recognizing the hard working volunteers that give hundreds of hours to make the annual review process successful. These 40+ volunteers spend time visiting every agency, reviewing outcomes and outputs, evaluating budgets, and listening to agency presentations.
