1. The storage tank has had poor preparation and application of the previous coating, leading to corrosion of the steel and delamination. 2. After blasting pitting corrosion can be seen covering the steel of the tank. 3. The steel of the tank was checked to ensure the thickness of the steel was still sufficient. 4. A solvent-free coating was applied to the whole of the storage tank. This new coating acts as a barrier between the steel and the stored product, preventing corrosion. This ensures the storage tank has a longer operational lifespan and aids in reducing maintenance and repair costs down the line, all of which lead to increased profits for the operator. #solventfree #coatings #coatingsolutions #storagetank #corrosion #corrosionprevention

GWT for Rust-colored Pipelines: Numerous pipelines are distributed throughout the factory. Visual inspection revealed that pipelines with failed paint coatings need to undergo corrosion detection. Today, we used Guided Wave Testing (GWT) for rapid corrosion screening of the pipelines. Although the pipelines are all rust-colored, the results of the guided wave inspection are significantly different. It can be easily distinguished that, in this case, more corrosion occurs near the welds of the 3-inch pipe, while the 8-inch pipe signals show only rusting without severe corrosion. This helps the maintenance unit to more accurately repair pipeline corrosion and prevent leakage accidents. #MakeGWTeasier #Corrosion

Protecting metal surfaces from corrosion involves several effective measures, including: 1. Applying protective coatings such as paint, powder coating, or plating to create a barrier against corrosive elements. 2. Using corrosion-resistant metals such as stainless steel or aluminum for the construction of surfaces and structures. 3. Implementing cathodic protection techniques, such as sacrificial anodes or impressed current systems, to prevent metal corrosion in environments like water or soil. 4. Regularly inspecting and maintaining metal surfaces to identify and address early signs of corrosion, thereby preventing its further progression. 5. Here's a great example of what #Corrosion #Engineers do! A client needed ICE to perform a structural integrity test for their steel processing plant. The plants' "washdown water" had very high salinity which corroded the steel quicker than usual, in some locations worse than others. 1) ICE created a corrosion risk map for tracking and predicting risk 2) Updated the coating specification to match the risk type 3) Carry out annual audit inspections to track risk and optimize repair This proactive approach saved the processing plant millions of dollars in reduced repairs and no #downtime. 7moAbfad Limited, if the structural strength is sound, you can can resurface the steel with a Resimac Ltd paste grade material. This is corrosion resistant and can be overcoated. It will also not comprimise NDT testing later in the service live of the structure.
