To celebrate #Juneteenth, our Black Employee Resource Group (BERG) coordinated several events across our offices in the U.S. Employees were invited to join The Cookout in Nashville, enjoy a fireside chat with black SVPs in New York, and learn about the holiday’s Texan roots in San Antonio.

February is Black History Month, a special time for honoring and celebrating the many achievements of Black Americans while acknowledging the challenges they face both past and present. Black investors in the U.S. hold more than $6 trillion of wealth, yet many are under-invested. Advisors can play a critical role in helping close that gap and reinforcing the continued growth of Black wealth and prosperity. BlackRock’s resources are designed to help advisors build authentic relationships with Black investors and earn their trust -> https://1blk.co/4bNStxl #BlackHistoryMonth #wealthmanagement #professionaldevelopment #financialadvisors

Today marks the beginning of Black History Month; an exciting and essential time to learn about and celebrate the Black community’s contributions and vitality around the country and across all sectors. In addition to celebrating, it is also our duty to reflect on inequities and challenges uniquely faced by the Black community and commit to making change. While there’s been progress, there is still so much work to be done, particularly with housing support. Peel Region is facing an affordable housing crisis with too many residents living unaffordably or experiencing homelessness. There are 91,000 Peel households in core housing need and Black households are the most likely to be in core housing need compared to all other households. This is unacceptable. We need to do better. Peel’s Housing Services team is committed to closing this gap and ensuring that our programs and services are delivered equitably. We will continue to partner with Black-led organizations and advocates to learn more about our shared responsibilities and what actions we can take to help Black residents get and keep housing. #BlackHistoryMonth

Employee ownership can be a driving force in building generational wealth, replacing longstanding racial inequity with tangible, material growth. Employee ownership preserves Black wealth by supporting Black-owned businesses, providing a sale that keeps the businesses open and enables Black employees to become owners. Jennifer Bryant leads the Black Employee Ownership Initiative (BEOI) for Project Equity. This initiative integrates across our programs to ensure that all of our services reach Black workers and Black business owners. These efforts include work to expand the available data about Black entrepreneurship and workforce density. We are forming critical partnerships with organizations that have deep roots in localities and communities with significant Black workforces. We are also developing strategies to advance Black EO and to add employee ownership to the Black wealth building agenda. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/g-q9eUTM

PIE doesn’t just honor Black History Month. We put our money where our mouths are. This isn’t a post to brag, but to show just how easy it is to really be inclusive. - Our preferred providers of pies are Black-owned, local businesses - We celebrate Black excellence by seeking melanated speakers and educators FIRST … and then **paying them** for their efforts - PIE has directed dozens of hours of FREE professional speaking coaching to rising melanated experts who want to polish their message before presenting - We maintain connections to organizations like state Black Chambers of Commerce, where we collaborate with leaders by providing time and resources to improve access to government work for Black-owned businesses PIE is a community in which historically excluded groups are not only celebrated, but CENTERED. We say this because our community IS BETTER for choosing to be inclusive. We still have opportunities to improve, and we are always open to critique and improving our practice. We also believe that the best voices, products, and information comes from fairly compensated, historically excluded speakers who are put at the front of the line. We’re tired of hearing from folks who have always been in charge, because leading a broken system doesn’t mean you know what you’re doing. It’s our honor to participate in Black History Month by focusing on Black providers every day of the year. Your business could do it, too.
