According to the search results, child abduction is a significant issue in Pakistan. In 2023, a non-governmental organization reported that 1,255 children were kidnapped, with over 950 recovered and over 250 still missing. Another report by a non-profit organization revealed that abduction cases ranked highest at 44%, followed by 13% for sodomy, 10% for rape, and 9% involving missing children. The report also suggested that 20 missing children were raped and murdered across Pakistan in 2023. Pakistan was also ranked 8th in the world for the highest kidnapping rates in 2023, with a rate of 9.452 per 100,000 population. However, there is limited information on child abduction statistics specifically. It is important to note that child abduction is often linked to other forms of violence, such as sexual abuse and exploitation. Therefore, addressing the issue of child abduction requires a comprehensive approach that addresses the root causes of violence against children in Pakistan. #ChildProtection #MissingChildren #ChildAbduction #ChildSafety #BringThemHome #EndChildTrafficking #ChildRights #ProtectOurChildren #GlobalMissingChildren #UNICEF

Trafficking in persons, or human trafficking, is the illegal trade of people for forced labor, sexual exploitation, or other forms of exploitation. “My first exposure to missing children was when I was 12. I went to Kolkata for a wedding and then was taken to remote Bengal during my vacation when I came across a child who had been missing in that area. During that time, I became curious to understand what happens to missing children. Post this, I tried having conversations with different types of people and was told by one person to visit crowded places and make observations. Soon, I started visiting railway stations, and on one such day, I saw a woman sitting at the railway station talking fluent Hindi. I was surprised as no one in Assam knew that type of Hindi. It was a decade of trying to figure out through different types of experiences and work, yet I still need a correct answer. During my college days, I was approached by a girl who overheard me speaking in Bengali and asked if she heard a similar language in her village. Finally, one girl took me to one village after a few months, and that's when I saw and came across women who shared experiences of being brought to Haryana for marriage; most were minors when they were lured into love and then sold off and now are married to a man double their age. That's when I went back and understood the whole cycle of trafficking. Post completion of education, for the next 4to5 years, I worked with organizations in Delhi that participated in multiple rescues. However, everyone was focused only on rescuing and not rehabilitation. It was a decision I took as I knew I could not fight individually and needed an agency. It was not an easy road ahead. During the initial two years, I had to fund my organization with my savings. We attracted some funding only after we got approved for 80G and 12A deductions. Our sole purpose is mass extensive outreach. We follow a bottom-up approach to bring awareness to the lowest section of society and help vulnerable and in danger People. Impact and Dialogue Foundation has survivors working in the team, who do mapping of villages, do a lot of activities, fight for legal aid to get justice, and file for victim compensation. My message to everyone, especially parents, is to talk and communicate with their children. Today, trafficking doesn't only affect lower income groups but also children from a wealthy background. Please tell them how much you love and cherish your kids as often as possible. Together, let's give our kids a safer future. #SheThePeople #womenempoweringwomen #womenentrepreneurs #womeninmedia #womensupportingwomeninbusiness #women #womeninmedicine #womenempowerment #womeninbusiness #womeninleadership #womeninmedicine #womensupportingwomen #womeninpower #womenhealth #womenentrepreneurs #womeninconsulting #womenofhistory

Did you know? Women in the criminal justice system face unique challenges that often go unnoticed. Here are some eye-opening facts: 1.) Women are the fastest-growing segment of the incarcerated population, with the number of women in prison increasing at nearly double the rate for men. 2.) Many incarcerated women are mothers, and their incarceration can have devastating effects on their families, including increased risk of poverty and instability for their children. 3.)Women are more likely than men to have a history of trauma, mental health issues, and substance abuse, highlighting the need for trauma-informed care and support services. 📢 Let's support initiatives that prioritize rehabilitation and reintegration for women impacted by the criminal justice system. Whether it's volunteering, donating, or advocating for policy changes, together we can make a difference in the lives of these women and their families. #BreakTheCycle #SupportRehabilitation #WomensMonth2024 #MDRRC

What do you think? Should there be yet another law, and should teachers be banned if they fail to recognise indicators of sexual abuse? Safeguarding is already a subject taken very seriously by schools, and actions implemented quickly - though as this article also points out, a lack of funding for statutory duties (police, social care etc) is possibly having more of an impact... What about churches? They don't have the same systems in place that schools have, but I find the idea that charities need to be created to deal with that appalling - surely, this should not be done by volunteers, or charities that spend most of their time trying to get funding to continue to exist... If being paid by the churches to do this job, surely it shouldn't be a charity doing it... Anyway, what are your thoughts? https://lnkd.in/ekdDzDhZ #Safeguarding #Abuse #SexualAbuse #SafeguardingTraining #Clergy

January marks National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. Did you know that 1.2 million children are trafficked annually, with one in four victims being children? Lumos, an international children's charity, unveiled a 2021 report exposing global institution-related trafficking patterns. Instances of sexual exploitation, child labor for funding, and unsafe conditions are revealed, emphasizing the risk of trafficking children into orphanages for profit, and through orphanages into international adoptions, impacting vulnerable children and their birth and adoptive families. Research emphasizes that children thrive and are safer in known families. Helping Children Worldwide and the Child Reintegration Centre are working to transform orphanages into community centers, advocating for family-based care to prevent child separation and ensure every child grows up with love and protection.
