Quick Questions for Today: 1. If an entry-level job requires 1-3 years of experience, is it really an entry-level job? 2. Should an internship require at least 1 year of working experience related to that internship? 3. Is there any way for writers to get full-time working jobs out of college without 1-3 years of experience? I own a business where writing is a big part of our jobs. Training graduates who have great writing skills does take time and effort but it can be worth it if the candidate has talent and can write. My daughter will graduate with an English degree in May and I am amazed at the number of job listings that fit the descriptions in the questions above. Even an internship is less than a year. You might say hire her yourself. We both would like for her to pave her own path if possible.

Day 9: Consistency Sometime last week, I had a breakdown, where I truly felt like giving up. This was few days after I had gotten my first internship as a writer intern at Naya Legal, and we were given an assignment. Confused couldn't even explain how I felt, it just felt like everything was going wrong, not only because my topic was submitted late, I also had major writer block and the deadline was fast approaching, and I was like 'hmm it's like I'll drop this thing, next time I'll be more prepared'. Then I remembered the work I put in to get that internship, the time I spent reviewing that cover letter and CV before submitting my application as well as the prayers that followed. I hadn't worked that hard for any other thing, apart from my academics, in a while. So I reluctantly picked up my pen and began the assignment, and I managed to submit just in time. This experience taught me that consistency is hard work, even when you love the job in question. It requires dedication to keep applying, getting, and keeping up with internships. This challenge is not just about writing, but about building consistency, even when tired, fed up, or out of ideas. I've learned that fulfillment comes from doing, not stopping. Consistency helps overcome laziness and builds resilience. So I'll keep writing, even when it's hard, because that's where growth happens. #Day9 #thewilltokeepgoing #lmc21dayschallenge

Journalist | Content Writer | News Anchor| Public Relations | Digital Marketing Expert | Content Creator
The Dark Reality of Journalism Internships: My Experience When I began my internship at Banglar Kantho, I was full of hope. Like many aspiring journalists, I believed this was my chance to learn, grow, and step into the profession. However, the reality behind the scenes was far from what I had imagined. In the beginning, I received only 2k per month, which was barely enough to cover basic expenses. But as the months passed, my stipend was reduced to only 1k , making an already difficult situation even more challenging. Despite juggling multiple roles—anchoring, scriptwriting, reporting, and covering events—there were no clear timelines or proper work structure. To add to this, I often faced disrespectful treatment from seniors, which made the whole experience mentally exhausting. What’s frustrating is that friends and family often think I’m building a solid career, but in reality, it feels like a struggle just to stay afloat. How can we expect the next generation of journalists to thrive under such conditions? If we want to keep talented, passionate people in this profession, we need to change the way interns are treated—starting with fair compensation and basic respect. It's time to address the toxic culture that leaves interns feeling undervalued and overlooked. Let’s advocate for a better future where young journalists are supported, not exploited. Together, we can push for change and ensure that dedication and hard work are rewarded. #JournalismInternships #UnpaidInternships #FairPay #JournalismStruggles #NeedForChange"

Importance of #Internship in #journalism: Folks, especially the journalism #students who actually want to step in to this profession, I want to tell you how important is internship to grow in your career. I was compelled to write on this after witnessing the interns coming to my office in the last few years. Each one of them used to come to office just to browse free office internet and listen music on Spotify. Without putting any effort to do a story, they just passed the period of 30 days or did only what was asked by the bureau chief with no extra efforts to show their interest in working as a full fledged journalist. Finished the period, got the internship certificate and episode over. Now let me share my experience of internship when I was a mass comm student. I pursued two internships in the same office of a leading national English daily. I was made to sit in the morning meetings with all the seniors/on-roll staffers, by the editor. Pitched story ideas, went to field to work on them and then filed the stories to collect bylines. Despite being a mere intern, I was assigned almost all the routine work of a proper on roll journalist and I never said No to it. Worked from 10.30am till 7pm. Was dead serious with my work and it paid off at the end when the bureau chief offered job to my college friend and me, as we both were pursuing the internships together. Though, it is a different story that we couldn't join as it was a different city from the one where our college was and moreover it was the last semester which was filled with numerous projects. I completed my Masters, and then appeared for my first job interview in another national English daily. Boom, the editor who took my interview was the same under which I had pursued my internship in that other daily. And because, I did my internship with all possible dedication, he was aware of my work. He asked nothing during the interview apart from exchanging greetings. He only saw the internship bylines which I had carried with me (I still have them with me in hard copies of the newspaper.) Boom, I was selected... So, crux of the story is, always take your internships seriously if you really want to build a career in this profession. Because you would learn the basics and take the first step in your career. You will be a step ahead in your first job in comparison to your colleagues who joined with you but without a proper internship. You need not start from the scratch. Regards and best wishes...

Simplifying your Law School Journey | VP, National Judicial Reforms Council | Intern, KSK | Upcoming Intern at Singhania & Co. and DMD Advocates | CS Executive
Following this tip (diligently) might increase the chances of getting a solid internship opportunity! Mostly the law students draft one CV and send it as and when required! Trust me, this is bad approach and might not result in a response! Instead, study the organisation that you are applying to, take feedback from past interns, etc. and then, TAILOR your CV accordingly. PS: Before sending your CV to any place, put yourself in the shoes of a recruiter. Plus, get your CV proofread with friends/family. #lawstudents #internships #CV #feedback

If you have engaged yourself in a Professional course but still want to know how exactly Full/Part time job feels like, then you can opt for Internships for such feeling. There are several platforms where various organisations/individuals hire interns on "Full Time or Part Time" basis. I also did an internship of 1 month from Internshala Platform under Ed-tech and an Individual when I was in my CA Foundation stage. I did what had been appointed to me, in a effective way. Talking on my personal basis that how I felt while doing my internship, then I would say "7/10". Maybe the reason is that I have totally immersed myself in this CA degree, and the work which I was done was of Content Writer, Proofreading, etc, but working for an organisation feels like "9/10" and working for an individual feels like "No rating"😑. But yes at the the end, giving "7/10" to internship which I had done earlier will be fine if someone asks on my behalf about this😊.
