Hello All, Let's get real. This project is another masterpiece of Mr. Steven Levene/COO of Metrolinx. The steel span Through Plate Girder over existing Tracks at Newmarket 4.90 Davenport has many structural concerns. Mr. steven leven/(current COO of Metrolinx/ by then VP of RailCiorridor) decided to create a Risk Assessment Team Meeting (on Friday, June 4, 2021 1:30 PM-3:30 PM, ) and chaired this Team meeting. Created +/-35 pages of check marks, and he concluded that: all are good, the Case Closed! The above case was opened by an engineer (Name DELETED] of RailCorridor to begin with. the steel span was a Through Plate Girder, TPG, +/-100 ft long, double track, and amazingly, Direct Fixation. Why Direct Fixation instead of Ballasted Deck? Everyone knows that Direct Fixation will reduce the life-span of the bridge from +100 years to around 30 years. well Metrolinx has the answer!!! Also, the girders have top and bottom flange splices, as well as web splices exactly at the same location: one series on the North side of the span and one series on the south side. the above splices means that the weakest point of the top flange is aligned with the weakest point of the web and aligned with the weakest point of bottom flange, at two separate locations, one on the North side and one on the south side. you do the math!!! If you want more information, please let me know. Also, on September 18th and 19th, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky, during the Arema Annual Conference, Metrolinx gave a presentation regarding the elevated bridge at Davenport Diamond, Newmarket sub/MX, and New Toronto Sub/(of a real railway). Ironically, Metrolinx did not talk about this portion (steel double track TOG crossing over the existing tracks of another railway) of the project. the bridge designer was not part of the presenter team. The bridge contractor was not part of the presenter team. I doubt that there was even a representative of the actual designer and the actual contractor team at Arema 2024. The people at the Arema Conf. 2024 were asking why? Well, the answer is: there is a series of serious issues with that steel span bridge over the New Toronto Tracks. Stay tuned for more info. @phil verster /CEO Metrolinx Steven Levene/ COO Metrolinx Metrolinx regards Siamak Khajehpour, P.Eng.
Thank you, Davenport community! Join us for ice cream and a visit from GO Bear this Sunday, September 15 from 1-4pm at Campbell Park as we express our gratitude for your support while we completed important Davenport Diamond rail intersection improvements in your neighbourhood.

Our Chair of Trustees Kersten England CBE is sharing a platform with Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire, Rozina Breen, Hannah Slaughter and Torsten Bell this evening at the Resolution Foundation’s panel debate, ‘Building a better Britain: how cities like Bradford can help to end economic stagnation’. You can still register to join us tonight: https://lnkd.in/dNN_P2mH Kersten will be sharing our Institute for Community Studies's research on #NetZero policy, which highlights a risk of ‘transition poverty’ that could leave the UK's poorest 40% behind, saying "We can’t meaningfully talk about economic change without looking at the green economy". More: https://bit.ly/4bYTliR Furthermore, she'll be exploring how businesses need support to drive economic growth too. Social outcomes play second fiddle in #ESG strategies, yet ‘communities’ are cited by 76% of FTSE 100s as ‘key stakeholders’. She'll ask: "What difference could it make if our biggest companies truly engaged?" More: https://bit.ly/3LnHfVG #EconomicDevelopment #Inequality #EconomicStrategy

A civic duty in the most civil way to morph Houston, Texas, into an at-par-with most modern cities of today is not beyond the aberration of status-quo-duty of the Achimotan.

Here's another #econdev national media hit tip: If your city is lucky enough like Rockford and my friend John Groh to get a stellar national print placement, you leverage the heck out of it to different media who aren't competitors. Broadcast segments and podcasts will use the national print media headlines as news and will want to speak to your local spokespeople about the reason WHY behind the ranking. So how do you elevate these stories? ⏩ Make sure you pitch quickly so the fervor doesn't die down ⏩ Dive into the process, not the product. Tell the reporters why and how the story came to be so you can share additional insight. ⏩ Be aware of which publications and outlets are friendlies so you don't run into issues with competition. ⏩ Collect b-roll, still photography and headshots to ensure you have additional content to provide ⏩ Continue to celebrate the story locally so residents and stakeholders see how much of an impact the headline had. John, it was such an honor working with you on this piece. Rockford has always had a special place in my heart and to see national headlines and stories cover what I've known about the city for a long time is seriously why I'm in this business. #economicdevelopment
ROCKFORD: Today Mayor Tom McNamara was live on Fox Business News with Liz Claman talking about Rockford's growth and turnaround in recent years. As Liz put it, "Forget about flipping homes; how about flipping an entire city?” Watch it: https://lnkd.in/gfK-DqZD #GoRockford

One of the things I live and brethe everyday in my job is the artistic nature of how things are developed. Any developer or engineer can put a project on the ground and people will most likely buy, but I really appreciate the time one takes to forward think through design and add real value to areas where the value was not thought of before. #marketinsights #marketstrategy
We reposted a discussion on the Conrad Sauer Park & Detention Basin project yesterday and how it was revitalized to create a beautiful amenity in a once basic infrastructure piece here in Houston, and wanted to take the time to point it out again. If you haven't seen it in person, you really should take a moment to go out and appreciate what has been done. This deal sits near I10 and Gessner and adds a lot of value to the local businesses nearby, giving a place for the patrons to go and linger as they wine and dine in the area. It's very stunning in person. Alan Steinberg

You are King of the Britons. You want to be a good King and help your subjects. You want to provide them with housing. Affordable homes. For all tenures. Beautiful houses. Houses like we used to build, traditional homes made in Georgian times; not those high-rise monstrosities they build today. Built in nice, real neighbourhoods, with green spaces and parks, local shops and services, and a cricket green. A genuine sustainable community, with new jobs, using renewable energy and increasing bio-diversity. You do everything right. You appoint a design team that spend six years - six years - engaging the local community through charettes and ‘enquiry by design’ to work up a design that will complement the unique historic character of the local area and its rich history. One day, you will be able to look back proudly at your contribution, and unlike some of your predecessors, know that you treated your people well and generously. Surely, your people will be grateful, appreciative and thank you for everything you are doing. Surely……. Er……. “It seems there’s no end to the greed of Prince William and King Charles!! It’s a disgrace that they pose as environmentalists when in fact they’re like all developers and it’s purely about the money! “And what about food security?? All this Grade 1 and 2 farmland being concreted over.” “My family are very proud 3rd-generation Duchy farmers and they feel ashamed and betrayed. No honour, just greed. We were hoping the Royals were maybe oblivious to it all, with good intentions, but it’s all a gloss.” Ouch. What an ungrateful lot. And what was the point of that six years? All that time, effort and money. And what do you have to show for it? There’s got to be a better way. And there is. Start engaging those that want to see new homes. Those that want to see new homes for themselves and their family. You might not know it, but a majority of people support housebuilding in their area. Let’s start talking to them. When will our industry learn that you’ll never convert a NIMBY? Faversham shows you can spend years talking to them, giving them everything they want, and they still oppose you. When something doesn’t work, you should stop doing it. But our industry, with its head in the sand, keeps doing the same old thing. Let’s start talking to supportive audiences. And make sure their voices start to balance the public debate. It’s only then, that Councillors will be confidently able to support your plans. How the world has changed. In 2024, even the King of the Britons needs approval from the local planning committee. That would never have happened in Henry VIII day. https://lnkd.in/e3BbNj8B
