Today’s “Surprising and Not-So-Surprising Facts about U.S. Culture” might just turn your idea of U.S. Christmas upside down. Did you know that some families in the U.S. celebrate on Christmas Eve (December 24th), just like in many other countries? It's especially common among families with Italian heritage, for example. Christmas traditions here are as diverse as the country itself. On U.S. Christmas tables, you might find a whole range of different foods ranging from Scandinavian-inspired dishes in the Midwest, tamales and empanadas in the Southwest to oyster stuffing in Maine. This is where we can see regional diversity and different immigrant histories reflected in local holiday traditions. The story here is never simple. Just like whether one should say Happy Holidays or not, it depends on the context. In some contexts, it might be better to say Merry Christmas in others not so much. And here’s one more fun fact: “Die Hard” is considered a Christmas movie in the U.S. Wishing you all happy holidays (no matter what holiday you celebrate. Producing a 3x4 meter #hologram in under two weeks—from project sign-off to installation at the event.
