One question I often hear is, "Do You Need to Clean Your House Before the Appraisal Appointment?" When an appraiser visits your home, their primary focus is on its features, construction quality, and the condition of its components. Unlike preparing for a showing, it’s not necessary to deep clean or stage your home for an appraisal. That said, appraisers are human too. If your home is extremely cluttered or hasn’t been cleaned in months, it can raise questions about overall maintenance. A well-maintained appearance helps ensure the appraiser doesn’t form unintended impressions that could influence their assessment. So, while you don’t need to go all out, a general sense of order and cleanliness can work in your favor.
