There is a notion that has become quite pervasive over the years - that dark walls make a room feel small. Well, I have good news, especially for those of us that love using dark colors in our homes. This is a myth. Dark colors on their own do not make a room feel small. Dark colors absorb light, and end up receding back in a design (whereas light colors reflect light and feel more noticeable) and as the dark colors recede, the room can feel larger instead of smaller. What people may be reacting to is the cozy, enveloping feeling that dark rooms give. If you’re struggling with your space feeling too small, its best to turn to scale of the furniture that you have in the space and the way its laid out. This can have a much bigger impact than the color that you paint the walls. If you’re struggling with anything from paint colors to furniture scale and layout we’d love to help! Here👇 Avoid These Common Design Mistakes for a Perfect Home Want to make sure your home looks its best? Here are some common design mistakes to avoid and what to do instead. 1️⃣ Using Overhead Lights Without a Dimmer Overhead lights can be harsh and unflattering when turned on without a dimmer. To create a cozy atmosphere, use ambient lighting like floor lamps, wall sconces, and table lamps. 2️⃣ Relying on Open Storage in the Mudroom A few hooks for coats are fine, but dedicating the entire mudroom to open storage can lead to a mess. Instead, use closed-door storage to keep things tidy and organized. 3️⃣ Using Word Art Word art has become a design cliché. Instead, choose unique artwork that resonates with you personally and adds character to your space. 4️⃣ Placing a Cooktop on the Island Avoid placing a cooktop on the island to prevent splashing hot oil on guests and avoid the need for a bulky range hood. Keep the island clear for a cleaner, more functional space. 5️⃣ Designing a Basic Powder Room The powder room is often the only restroom your guests will use. Make it special and memorable with unique design elements, turning it into a conversation starter. Minimalist Abstract Wallpapers Sometimes, all we want is for our homes to feel calm, warm, and comforting. I believe that the right wallpaper can bring that feeling into any space. This new abstract collection with minimal designs was created with that exact thought in mind. Each design is simple, soft, and just enough to make a statement without taking over the room. I love how minimal design works. It’s not loud; it’s not overly bright. It’s more like a quiet companion, blending in and making the space feel more open and welcoming. When I look at these wallpapers, I feel a sense of peace. The patterns are simple—abstract shapes, gentle lines, and calming colors. It feels as if they are breathing with the room, giving it life in the most subtle way. One of the designs I’m especially attached to has a soft wave pattern. To me, it feels like watching the ocean on a calm day, with gentle waves moving in and out. It’s a reminder that our spaces should bring us peace, just like nature does. I think of this design as a way to bring that natural calmness inside. Choosing a minimalist wallpaper is more than just about design; it’s about creating a space that feels like home. I feel that a minimal, abstract pattern brings a room together without overwhelming it. It leaves space for everything else—your favorite chair, a cozy rug, or even an open window with sunlight streaming in. With this collection, I wanted to create something that feels personal, something that connects with the mood of the space and the people in it. These wallpapers aren’t meant to be flashy; they’re there to support, to add warmth, and to make any room feel just right. For me, this is about making spaces where we can breathe and simply enjoy the beauty of simplicity.
