A law firm leading with purpose! 💜 Perkins Coie achieves Mansfield 7.0 Certification Plus in Diversity Leadership (again!). Why is this a big deal? This is a prestigious recognition awarded to law firms that consider and hire at least 30% women, lawyers of colour, LGBTQ+ lawyers and lawyers with disabilities for recruitment, partnership promotions, and management positions. Frameworks like Mansfield Certification are a huge ambition for us in Europe as we look to “build it right” this side of the pond and learn from the best role models in the U.S., including Genhi Givings Bailey (she/her/hers) who I’ve been incredibly inspired by, watching her passion for her work shine through during every conversation. Not many people can say that they are able to make a tangible impact on ED&I in their workplace and I feel so lucky that I’m in a position where my voice carries weight, where I can reverse mentor and influence partners to build the office in the right way so diverse talent can win. I’m honoured that someone my age is being entrusted to lead the charge, but it does make sense… I’ve recently seen the issues and barriers to entry for a career from firsthand experience. From imposter syndrome to financial barriers, regional isolation and lack of representation in the industry which holds smart and ambitious low opportunity talent back. When I and the rest of the launch team came to Perkins Coie, we didn’t join to go along with how things have been typically done before in Europe and to reinforce these issues. Instead, we came with a clear purpose to simplify access to a legal career. Can’t wait to kick off our next LBA and internship recruitment cycle (more info to come very soon) to expand our junior talent pool and aspire to mirror the Mansfield achievements in the U.S. So much change to come! 🤩 #Counseltotomorrow #Builditright
