We would like to acknowledge the support that we have received from our Platinum Partner. The Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation’s (ILSC) fundamental focus is returning Country to Indigenous peoples so they can realise the social, economic, environmental, and cultural benefits of owning and managing Country. The ILSC’s long-term vision for meeting its ATSI Act mandate is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to enjoy the rightful entitlements, opportunities and benefits that the return of country and its management brings. The ILSC’s primary grant program – Our Country Our Future – provides assistance for acquiring and managing rights and interests in land, salt water and fresh water country in order to achieve this vision. #ASCC24 #SeaCountryConference2024 #TraditionalKnowledge

The recent federal budget's inclusion of a National Indigenous Loan Guarantee Program represents a commitment to ensure that large-scale projects get built with the full participation of Indigenous nations. Budget 2024, if passed, will set an upper limit of $5 billion in loan guarantees, serving as a needed tool to support meaningful economic partnership, opening up opportunities for Indigenous nations to own a stake in major projects impacting our territories. Join Energy and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) Minister Jonathan Wilkinson at the #FNMPC2024 Conference in a discussion about the Government of Canada’s commitment to roll-out the national Indigenous Loan Guarantee Program and NRCan’s role among its partners. 4 days left to register: fnmpc.ca/conference. #EnergyTransition #IndigenousConsent #cdnpoli #ClimateStrategy #

Pithy article by the excellent Tracey Davies on #justtransition and why ACTSA continues to call for renewed solidarity with #SouthernAfrica civil society organisations (CSOs), ensuring women's voices and women-led CSOs are at the decision making tables when UK and other western governments offer #JET grants and loans for climate adaptation. She writes 'Just transition is centred on the concept of justice across the economy, which requires a total reordering of our economic system: to distribute all resources more equitably, to conserve and protect natural resources, and to provide all people with the opportunity to earn a living in a way that enables them to lead dignified lives. The economic system that a just transition seeks to achieve is the opposite of our current one. The neoliberal capitalist system has created the conditions which now threaten the very existence of our species. It is a system based on resource-grabbing and extractivism; maximum profit, greed, competition, and winner-takes-all power'. Follow us and add your name to the members and affiliates of ACTSA so we can better support regional CSO's to 'be in the room' where decisions are being made. Acted Canada is a proud part of the 23 member organizations of The Civil Society Policy Advisory Group. Since its establishment, the CPAG’s work program included drafting implementation plans for the 9 pillars of the CSO policy and preparation of high-level narrative updates on progress. Following the dialogue, the CPAG reflected on the need to renew civil society participation and develop clear priorities and ways of working. This ensuring strong CSO representation, and ensuring the CPAG offers a space to: build relationships and partnerships; identify priorities and address emerging trends in international cooperation, relevant for the CSO policy; support Canada’s advancement of the 2021 DAC Recommendation on Enabling Civil Society in Development Co-operation and Humanitarian Assistance (the DAC Recommendation); and offer opportunities for meaningful discussion. Together, we're working for meaningful change and a sustainable future for communities worldwide.

September 30, 2024, is Canada's fourth annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. As a business headquartered in Treaty 6 territory and a Certified Indigenous Business Canadian Council for Indigenous Business, RWI Synthetics asks that you take this day with us to learn, acknowledge, and participate in a better future for all. We are all Treaty People here on Turtle Island. We recognize this day as an RWI Synthetics statutory holiday to acknowledge the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. Stephanie Scott, Executive Director of the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation, says, "As part of our collective reconciliation journey, we have an obligation to confront the full truth of our nation's history. For too long, the experiences of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples have been marginalized or distorted in our education systems. We must ensure that future generations learn the truth about residential schools and the ongoing legacy and lasting trauma they inflicted on generations of Indigenous peoples. Only then can we build a more just and equitable future for all." It is estimated that more than 150,000 Indigenous children attended residential schools in Canada. Please join us in remembering the survivors of the residential school system in Canada and their families. Help us strengthen and build pathways of reconciliation while learning and honouring the history and resilience of the #FirstNations, #Métis, and #Inuit. #NDTR #NDTR2024 #OrangeShirt #Canada #CertifiedIndigenousBusiness

The inclusion of in-donor refugee costs as Official Development Assistance raises significant concerns as it essentially implies that donors are providing aid to themselves. This practice deviates from the original purpose of ODA and is unacceptable. Preliminary aid figures for 2023 further underscore the failure to effectively tackle global challenges, as the reported $223 billion amount is inflated and distorted. This highlights how ODA is now being utilized to prioritize donors' domestic interests, such as providing extensive support to Ukraine, while aid to other ongoing conflicts involving more than 55 countries has either stagnated or decreased. The future of aid must address these issues and focus on prioritizing human rights and adhere to aid effectiveness principles https://lnkd.in/dH8-3a-b
