I am happy to have initiated and contributed to such a valuable work which is now published in scientific reports resulting from a cooperation of Evonik with Aachener Verfahrenstechnik (RWTH Aachen University). New Nature Communications paper exploring electrochemical chlorinations. Thomas Wirth's work at Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd has focused on researching hypervalent iodine chemistry, advancing sustainable and scalable methods for chlorination. This paper titled: "Electrocatalytic continuous flow chlorinations with iodine(I/III) mediators" published in Nature Communications highlights the use of Vapourtec's Ion electrochemical reactor for rapid screening of different reaction parameters, which was essential for supporting continuous flow chlorination reactions, demonstrating the efficiency of hypervalent iodine(I/III) compounds.
