Last night two thousand Londoners mobilised at short notice to say no to censorship, no to #antisemitism, and yes to freedom of artistic expression. Around 36 hours ago earlier, antisemitic thugs had daubed the Phoenix Cinema (one of the oldest cinema's in the UK) in London with red paint and the false slogan 'Say no to Artwashing'. The Phoenix Cinema was screening that night a documentary on the massacre that took place on October 7th at the Supernova Music Festival, during which hundreds of young adults were murdered, multiple women were gang raped and multiple hostages were taken. The idea that a documentary (using footage from the Go Pro cameras that the monsters used to film what they were doing) is 'artwashing' or 'propaganda' is disgusting, on so many levels. It beggars belief that anyone with a shred of humanity can claim this. What appalling hatred is in the minds of those who go out and and daub a hub of artistic expression with red paint, the colour of blood? There is no place for hatred. No place for shutting down documentaries and other forms of artistic expression. No place for racism, for #antisemitism, for #islamophobia, for anti-Arab hatred, for anti-Israel hatred. Shame on Ken Loach and Mike Leigh for resigning as patrons of the Phoenix for screening this film. You will not be missed. The only path to peace is through the acquisition of knowledge. Good read, fully agree. As we work on the most important, we will get to a more realistic and reliable date for early adoption and general availability. But putting up a show of estimations early on, for the sake of having an estimation and often completely unreliable plan, is indeed, as mentioned in the article, just theater. We learn as we go, and we improve as we go. And this learning includes the discovery of a whole big bunch of unknowns. Anyone telling you different? Let them prove it, bet you a beer they can’t ;-)
