In 2007, the Katowice Fair was transformed into the KATOWICE International Mining, Energy and Metallurgy Fair. The event became a place where local industrial traditions met global innovations, and a new face of Polish industry was painted. Companies from 17 countries showed that Silesia is ready for the exchange of ideas and technologies on a global scale by presenting state-of-the-art machinery and innovations in the power industry or metallurgy. Connecting East and West In 2007, the international nature of the show was emphasized with a focus on cross-border cooperation, such as the presence of a German delegation from Saxony-Anhalt or Czech entrepreneurs. More than 20,000 visitors had the opportunity not only to admire innovations, but also to attend conferences that shed light on the latest industry trends. The 2007 edition not only celebrated achievements, but also focused on the future, showing how global trends can serve local development. Here is another example of .. up cycling a product or service .. Lithium which is used in batteries is sourced through strip mining and evaporation ponds. Now, scientists are finding a way to extract it from shale and pirite. Since, fracking extracts gas and oil from shale, the waste product of lithium could be up cycled for use in batteries. https://lnkd.in/g42MEf_V

Helder Gaudencio and Clearwell customer Nexa Resources are looking to treat the mining water in other Nexa sites, beginning with a feasability study performed by Escalab. 🎉 We are thrilled to share the incredible results from our recent pegmatite drill core scans, highlighting spodumene crystals with our new UV fluorescence feature. Launched this summer, this feature has already shown promising outcomes. A special thanks to Sayona for sharing test samples. Our initial tests demonstrate that this technique could be a game-changer for rapid, in-field automated and systematic lithium exploration and production support.  While it's important to note that spodumene needs to be fluorescent—bearing impurities like manganese for this method to work, and it may not match the precision of other analytical tools or service labs, it’s still a far more economic and faster solution compared to other methods. Plus, it's more accurate than traditional visual inspections. If the deposit allows it, this is the most cost-effective solution.
