The "Family Benefits" Guy | Collaborative insurance partner to help you think beyond your basic employee benefits | Co-Author of Questions and Answers on Disability Insurance Workbook
We talk a lot about the benefits of having a DI policy in the event of Total or even Partial Disability. But what if you’re a business owner who is back to work full-time but still suffering an income loss? That’s like accepting a job offer but then the job pays half as much. Most quality DI plans will have a provision for a “Recovery Benefit” that continues to pay in this exact situation. Don’t settle for half a paycheck.

CEO, Award Winning Training Company I 32 Yrs as Trainer, Speaker, Facilitator I 500+ clients in 4 continents I 2020-2021 Top100FilipinosOnLinkedIn | #15 Phil Top 30 Leaders on LinkedIn 2022
19 years ago (Feb 2005) I was unemployed and down to my last 3,000 pesos (with rent & monthly car amortization to pay and several dependents to support) I impulsively quit my job in October 2004 without any fallback, without much savings. The job offers and opportunities were not attractive. December’s spending splurge came. Running low in money & hope “Lord, help me please.” The same day, I got a call from a company I used to deliver training to years back. “We heard you’ve already left ____. We need you for a Planning workshop.” No laptop, no problem. I have my slides in a thumb drive. I facilitated their 3-day workshop. I got paid more than my last monthly salary. That company engaged me for their team building, customer service and sales programs in the next 6 months. They also referred me to other companies which led to new business. A number of new clients came in Mostly small companies There was one known F&B brand that took a chance in me After the training engagements, I’d just sign acknowledgment receipts. July 2005, clients started to ask for official receipts. I didn’t know how to But I managed to register a business name in DTI and get a business permit from the Municipal Office. All in August 2005 (Ghost month!) Now that training business is 19 years old, has served 500+ companies in 24 countries (5 continents) and has employed close to a hundred people. So whenever you are down and running low in resources, always remember to keep your faith in God explore your options spot & seize opportunities #LJMB19thYear

Somebody asked me: I am a biller, shall I move abroad and start from zero or pursue my career here? Great question: The simple answer is If you are earning more than 200,000 or you have a firm belief that you can earn this much in a year or two. Then sticking to your current profession is a good idea. However, If your salary is less than 200,000 and if there is no hope of getting towards 200,000 in a year or two then moving abroad is a good option. I would love to know , what others think about it. Do you agree with me or disagree? Do share your thoughts. #medicalbilling #credentialing #abroad

Hey sis, You may be excited to step in to your knew role but just like you studied for your exam.....study these organizations too! Or you may be a BCBA looking for a change...take your time, I know it's challenging but trust me...study these organizations! When you hear an organization proclaim they have small caseloads and low billable expectations have them define this! Ask questions such as: What is the average amount of hours each client are being scheduled per week? Roughly how many clients will I have on my caseload? Is there one BT to each client, or is it more ? Then you would factor that in to see what's attainable if you were to only observed at the bare minimum of 5% of those hours can you get close to those numbers? Ask them what happens if you don't!! I said what I said! Some of y'all hear the salary and get trapped with these sign on bonuses! Please stop! Take your time now before it's too late and you feel trapped, and burnt out ! P.S. you also do NOT have to stay at your current organization if you feel like it is not a good fit for you! BCBAs are needed--YOU HAVE OPTIONS!

These layoffs are very common in corporate sectors. what we need to do is keep focusing and enhance our technical skills from the day one of your job. You have to maximise your accountability. you have to work out of your box, So that you will gain more knowledge. Of course, companies are having their limitations to run the business but we don't have any limitations in terms of exploring our skills and knowledge. May be you will get small spikes in your life graph but definitely we will reach heights one day. Every one will come back as like Amit. Good luck Amit.

On a Thursday 8 years ago, I received an AED 80,000 performance bonus. The next day, I was fired from my job. I had only 3 months to find another one before my visa expired. By Tuesday, they’d handed notices to 200 others. The employer I worked for was cutting costs. I still remember how I received a call from my boss on Friday morning. He asked me to meet him at Park Regis. I thought he wanted to have breakfast with me. And work on a plan of action for the next 12 months. When I reached the hotel, my boss was accompanied by the Head of HR. They showed me a piece of paper & said. “Your salary is 25000. You have worked with us for 6 years. You have a car loan with us and your outstanding is 90. Your end-of-service benefit is 100K. We will deduct this 90, settle your car loan, and give you the remaining 10,000. We are dismantling your entire department. You were a great resource and we appreciate your hard work & efforts. Thank you.” It was the last thing that I had expected. And it hit me so hard. I asked them to reduce my salary and put me in a different role, and let me continue the job. They said it was not possible. I went down, called my parents, and cried a little. Then went to the office and packed my stuff. I was asked to leave without any goodbyes. My team still didn’t know that they were next. I was lucky to find another job in 30 days. But I’ve realised something. Every challenge is a lesson in resilience. ‘Onwards’ is a mindset I’ve since developed. No matter what happens, our goal should be to keep moving forward. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other. And new doors always open.🚪

This is alarming 🔊📢 Day by day this matter came in light. The surprising behaviour of owners and upper management towards their employees. As a fellow artist we all know how much time and thought as an artist you put into every single project because you wanna be better you. People work clock free for the sake of their families and after all the process if they are not getting paid then what's the point. Always remember there's a person with family who solely depend on their freelance project or salary. Always kind to others because the table can turn anytime. Lastly: How bad this effect on job communities, and cooperate culture. what is the solution ? Any thoughts....

Multiple Award-Winning Learning Strategist | Corporate Learning Solutions | Leadership Development | ► Designing learning solutions that ignite real change
Training grants are an excellent way to support employee development while minimizing costs. At Glass of Learning Inc., we’ve helped many businesses access these funds to enhance their teams’ skills. Let’s connect to explore how you can make the most of these opportunities. #LearningAndDevelopment #TrainingGrants
Did you know you can apply for local government grants to cover training costs? Grants provide businesses with financial support for training and development that might otherwise be out of reach — and unlike loans, grants don’t need to be repaid. These programs aim to increase skill levels, promote employees, boost wages, extend hours for part-time staff, and maintain employment to avoid layoffs. If any of these outcomes align with your needs, consider applying. Ontario, for example, offers grants that cover up to 83% of training costs. Similar grants are available in other provinces, U.S. states, and countries. Please check with your local government to find options best suited for your business. We’ve successfully helped many clients secure thousands of dollars for training—at no extra cost. Contact Nancy Priest CTDP CVF to learn more. #TrainingGrants #EmployeeDevelopment #BusinessGrowth #SkillsTraining

Tech, Startup + Retail Recruiter 🕵️♂️ Just Wrapped A 1-Year Break! 🚀 Book a 1:1 LinkedIn Strategy Session With Me!👇
I took a $20K salary cut when I switched industries. Here's why that's unrealistic for most people👇 When I accepted a job offer making $20K less than I was making, it was an easy yes. But here's the catch: I lived at home...rent free. 🤯 Outside of my car payment, phone and gas...I didn't really have any expenses! My parents paid for the groceries and household bills and I didn't have any debt like student loans - because my parents paid for it! I say all of this to help you see the realities of situations like mine. It can be easy to sit on LinkedIn and see post after post of people doing crazy things and taking giant risks with their careers. It can be tempting to do the same... How do these people do it?! There's a lot more that you're not seeing that needs to be considered before making a decision that could put you in financial hardship. There's a lot of gurus out there trying to convince people to take huge risks in such a competitive job market. While I agree (to an extent)....you need to understand that the "success stories" you're seeing are probably soaked in privilege (see above). I'm sure some people will hate this take. Why? It calls out the inclusion problem we have with how we "get ahead" in our careers....but that's a story for another post. 👏 To be clear, don't rule out an incredible opportunity just because it pays less. Just remember - you shouldn't have to live in a world where making less money is ever a "right of passage".
