Texas-sized surprise! 🤠 Houston tops the "uptight" city list Well, this might sting a bit for laid-back Texans. According to FinanceBuzz, Houston snags the title of the most uptight city in the U.S. Reasons cited include limited leisure activities and those long 40-hour work weeks. Ouch! 😬 Don't tell Matthew McConaughey! He might need to rethink his chill vibes if he is hanging around H-Town. 😉 The rest of the Lone Star State didn't fare much better!!! ✅ San Antonio took 3rd place for its lack of "relaxing diversions". ✅ Rival city Dallas landed at number 5, with too few parks getting the blame. ✅ Silver Lining: At least Austin gets a shout-out as the most laid-back Texas city. 👍 🔍 The Big Question: Houston's affordability and business opportunities are a big draw. Houston, in a 🥜 With return to office being one of the hottest topics of 24 and Houston having a number of awesome businesses, I've had a few people reaching out to learn more about the vibes of the city, so figured I'd share my findings. In no particular order: 1) Awesome food scene, there is something for everyone - although I can't get on board with BBQ. 2) They have a Nandos - and, dare I say it, was actually way better than the UK chains. 2) Sprawling metropolis, I really had no idea how big and spread out it is. Each with it's own unique charm. 3) Nightlife is meh - it's not London, Miami or NYC. If you're looking for clubs you'll likely be disappointed. 4) It's surprisingly green? I'm not sure what I was expecting but I was surprised. 5) There are a lot of developments and construction all over the city, but especially around the Heights neighborhood. 6) Everything is a LOT cheaper than other big cities. 7) Southern hospitality is a real thing - everyone is unbelievably friendly and accommodating. 8) Cultural melting pot. A mosaic of cultures, ethnicities, and traditions makes it one of the most inclusive cities I've experienced. 9) It's home to a number of beautiful museums and exhibitions 10) Income state tax free - need I say more??
