In a landmark move to revolutionize digital education, the School Education Department, Government of Punjab has announced the acquisition of 200,000 Chromebooks to establish smart labs in public #schools across the region. This ambitious initiative aims to provide over 200,000 students, including out-of-school children, with digital IDs, ensuring their access to internet safety #tools and a wealth of digital learning resources. The initiative, launched in collaboration with “Jumni,” will empower 200,000 children with digital education #opportunities. Out-of-school children, often excluded from traditional learning systems, will receive free digital IDs, enabling them to utilize #Chromebooks for educational purposes. This step is expected to bridge the digital divide and bring marginalized students into the fold of modern education. In addition to benefiting students, the program will also upskill #educators. Approximately 500,000 teachers will receive free Google #certification through the Chromebooks. Once certified, these #teachers will train their peers, creating a ripple effect that strengthens the overall #digital education ecosystem. This professional development #initiative is designed to equip teachers with the skills needed to effectively integrate #technology into their classrooms, enhancing the learning experience for students. The initiative also marks a significant step toward integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the education system. A strategic partnership has been formed between Google for Education and the Punjab Education Foundation-Official (PEF) to explore and implement AI-driven #educational tools and solutions. This collaboration aims to harness the potential of AI to personalize #learning, improve administrative efficiency, and prepare students for a technology-driven future. Officials from the #SchoolEducation Department emphasized that this initiative is a critical component of their broader vision to modernize public education. By providing students and teachers with cutting-edge tools and #resources, the department hopes to create a more inclusive, equitable, and future-ready #education system.

Two-thirds of colleges are adding online programs, survey finds. According to the research from TheCodeWork, Chief online officers reported that 36% of their fully online programs saw enrollment growth of 4% or greater among traditional-age undergraduates from 2021 to 2022. That’s compared to 22% of on-campus programs that enjoyed such increases. Similar trends played out for adult undergraduates as well. Nearly 51% of fully online programs saw enrollment of these students grow by at least 4% from 2021 to 2022, compared to almost 19% of in-person programs. Colleges are taking notice of these trends. Over two-thirds of colleges, 36% report reexamining their strategies to adapt to the growing demand for online learning, while 39% said their priorities are already consistent with this shift. This shift in online education is based on student demand — to sustain overall enrollment, according to an annual report tracking trends in virtual education. 🧐Interesting read I assumed the number of tech tools have slimmed in districts. I agree that there is going to be a rise and greater evaluation of tech resources in the coming years. We see it happening more rapidly in some states. Demonstrating value and learning gains while being flexible to fit a district’s learning system is going to be critical as tech standards and guidelines increase in each state and their districts.
