❓Did you know that the Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine & Health has members in 6 different countries, across 4 continents? What began in 1999 as eight member institutions based in the United States has expanded to include over 86 current member institutions around the world. The first institution outside of the United States to join the Academic Consortium—and the first Canadian institution to join our community—was the University of Calgary in 2003. Mexico was the next country to join the Academic Consortium community, and our member Tecnológico de Monterrey celebrates 10 years of Consortium membership this year. In 2020, we were joined by our first institution from Australia, Western Sydney University, shortly followed by our first member from Brazil, Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein in 2021. Most recently, in 2024, we welcomed our very first member institution from Asia, Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine in Seoul, South Korea. We are exceptionally proud of our growing global network of whole health champions! #championsofwholehealth #acimh #integrativemedicine #globalcommunities

Today marks #EuropeDay. Every year on 9 May, we celebrate our unity and solidarity. At RMIT Europe, we also reflect on the strong connection between the EU and Australia. Australia and the EU have a long history of productive research collaboration. The EU has maintained a delegation in Australia since 1981, with the first-ever treaty-level and technology agreement signed between the EU and an industrialised country being with Australia in 1994. Today, the EU is Australia's third largest trading partner and second largest source of foreign investment. RMIT Europe was established in 2013 as the European Innovation Hub of RMIT University, serving as a gateway for European research, industry, government and enterprise to innovation and talent in Australia and Asia. We're proud partner in European funded projects, from doctoral training networks linking Australia to Europe through to research and innovation actions focused on sustainable futures as well as education for professionals to help set the EU on a path to a green transition. Migration Challenges for International PhD Candidates and Researchers🇸🇪 Today, I had the privilege of representing SULF DCA at the Samverkanskonferens SUHF – Migrationsverket, where I joined leaders and experts from the Swedish migration and other institutions to explore the challenges and aspirations of various institutions in streamlining processes to make studying and working in Sweden more accessible and efficient for non-EU researchers. During the conference, I presented on several critical migration issues impacting international PhD candidates and researchers, offering firsthand testimonials that brought these unique challenges to light. It was an important opportunity to present an already existing voice crucial to the discussion but ignored. It was however encouraging that there was a general recognition of the barriers non-E. U researchers face and the collective commitment to bolster ongoing collaboration between universities, unions and migration authorities to address these barriers. We all left with the belief that this partnership is essential in ensuring Sweden remains an attractive, supportive environment for global talent to thrive. As we move forward, I am optimistic and looking forward to changes which will enhance transparency, improve processes, and continue creating a welcoming space for international academics in Sweden.

The Society of Junior Doctors (SJD) extends an invitation to its members to partake in the Organizing Committees for the academic year 2023-2024. The SNI's operations are orchestrated by four distinct Organizing Committees, each aligned with our four principal pillars and objectives: 1. Facilitating the creation of high-level scientific works through working groups. 2. Administering a comprehensive research methodology training program and interactive Journal Clubs. 3. Organizing scientific conferences and events with professional, social, and volunteer components. 4. Fostering external collaboration and partnerships with other institutions and groups, as well as disseminating the work of SJD. The academic year 2022-23 marked the inaugural year of establishing and operating these Organizing Committees, yielding notably positive reports and feedback. Committee members had the opportunity to collaborate systematically, exchange ideas, and contribute to the Society's smooth and efficient functioning. Through these committees, members can collaborate, set common goals, and engage with colleagues, both young and experienced, from across Greece and abroad. As a token of appreciation for their valuable assistance, SJD will issue certificates of participation in English at the end of the academic year 2023-2024, recognizing and describing their roles. Detailed information has been sent via email from the Society of Junior Doctors' secretariat, along with a Google form link for expressing interest. For further inquiries, members can reach out to SJD through our communication channels. To sign up for the Society of Junior Doctors click on the link: https://lnkd.in/dbTiCKXd Please be advised that, irrespective of previous year's Organizing Committee participation, it is mandatory to re-submit the interest form. Traditional Chinese Medicine Degree Raises Eyebrows in Canada Image by kian2018 from Pixabay Canada's 1st university degree in traditional Chinese medicine is coming, but some are wary https://lnkd.in/gzdTh6fK By Jessica Wong Kwantlen Polytechnic University will introduce Canada’s first bachelor’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in 2025, sparking debate about the role of ancient practices in modern healthcare. Supporters claim that TCM offers a holistic alternative, but skeptics, like Jonathan Jarry, caution against promoting treatments that lack solid scientific evidence. Critics argue that this move legitimizes pseudoscience without rigorous standards to back up its claims. #WesternCanadaReason #wecanreason #criticalthinking #skeptics #science #Skepticism #HealthcareDebate #ChineseMedicine #TCM
