Cybersecurity Startup Abnormal Security Locks Up $250M At $5.1B Valuation Abnormal Security closed a $250 million Series D that now values the San Francisco-based cybersecurity startup at $5.1 billion. The new round was led by Wellington Management with participation from existing investors Greylock Partners, Menlo Ventures, Insight Partners and the Falcon Fund. The valuation is a more than 28% uptick from the $4 billion valuation Abnormal got when it raised a $210 million Series C led by Insight Partners back in May 2022. Founded in 2018, Abnormal looks to stop attacks and find compromised accounts across email and connected applications through leveraging machine learning and AI to understand human behavior. The startup has raised nearly $546 million total, per the company. “This funding allows us to further invest in our human behavior AI platform to protect more people across their everyday applications, while enabling customers to accelerate their AI initiatives with autonomous AI solutions,” said co-founder and CEO Evan Reiser. Founded in 2012, Bugcrowd has now raised almost $180.6m, their last round was their Series D ($30m) in 2020; Bugcrowd specialize in bug bounty, pen testing, & vulnerability disclosure, and the new investment will be used to accelerate growth, to continue enhancing its crowdsourced security platform, and for strategic M&A opportunities. Security Compass acquires Kontra from ThriveDX | Founded in 2005, backed by FTV Capital, Security Compass is a provider of Enterprise DevSecOps software solutions, and Kontra specialize in application security training.   Seal Security secured $7.4m in Seed funding | This round was led by Vertex Ventures, with participation from Cyber Security Club London and Crew Capital. Seal Security was founded in 2023 and is an open-source vulnerabilities solution.   Scrut Automation secured $9m in Series A funding | Lightspeed, MassMutual Ventures and Endiya Partners all participated in the round. Founded in 2020, Scrut Automation and is a risk-focused complication automation platform solution; they have now raised a total of $19.5m.   Armis acquires CTCI (Cyber Threat Cognitive Intelligence) | This is the second time Armis have made headlines related to M&A - a couple of weeks ago it was reported they were negotiating to acquire Silk Security. The investment is being led by Mitsubishi Corporation and Schneider Electric.   Eye Security announced they raised $39M in Series B Funding | Founded in 2020, Eye Security is pioneering the approach it makes for enterprise-level 24/7 cyber protection, incident response, and cyber insurance available to mid-market businesses. The round was led by JPMorgan Chase & Co. with participation from existing investors Bessemer Venture Partners and Tin Men Capital.   BotGuard OÜ secures $13M in Series A Funding | Founded in 2019, BotGuard provides an easy way to integrate with Apache and Nginx web server plugins and do not require any code changes at the web application level. This round was led by MMC Ventures, with participation from Expeditions Fund, Tera Ventures.   Wiz announced they will be acquiring Gem Security | Wiz is acquiring fellow Israeli startup Gem Security in a $350 million deal. Gem, which has developed a Cloud Detection and Response (CDR) platform, has raised $34 million to date. This is Wiz's largest acquisition to date, with the company acquiring Israeli startup Raftt in its first purchase last December. It's been reported that Wiz is in negotiations to raise hundreds of millions of dollars at a valuation of over $10 billion.
