Discover how our AWS-certified Media & Entertainment (M&E) experts at InNeed Intelligent Cloud can guide you in creating a secure, serverless Video on Demand (VoD) platform on AWS. By harnessing the power of AWS Elemental MediaConvert, it automatically transcodes videos into HLS format at diverse bitrates (2 Mbps, 1 Mbps, 600 Kbps, and 400 Kbps), facilitating adaptive bitrate streaming. This ensures smooth, secure, and scalable video delivery for a flawless playback experience across multiple devices in any network condition, eliminating buffering delays. Our approach integrates the robust CloudFront CDN for efficient video delivery at scale, S3 for dependable storage solutions, and the Secrets Manager for the secure handling of key management. Furthermore, with the utilization of AWS Amplify and CloudFormation, we have simplified the building and deployment process. This not only propels our solution to the forefront of technology but also ensures it is swift and straightforward to launch. 👉 Interested in elevating your video delivery strategy? Are you "streaming from the cloud" or old-school on-prem HW? Next month, I will participate in an exciting panel at the Dataxis event in London. Over the last few years, there has been ongoing discussion about whether telcos / large-scale broadcasters should keep streaming from their data centers or “move to the cloud.” #Akamai #Google #AWS were always there, and #fastly and #cdn77 are also joined, but different customers have different needs. Telco’s, in particular, face unique challenges. Their focus on linear content results in a significant monthly throughput, and their CDN usage is substantial. This high demand for data usage presents a compelling argument for streaming from their own data centers. Broadcaster – as long as the scale is reasonable, it might fly for them, but it doesn’t make sense for the big players. Large broadcasters, such as #NFX and #Disney, have taken a different approach. They have either established their own CDNs worldwide or are in the process of doing so. This individualized solution reflects the unique needs and capabilities of these industry giants. Some people previously said we are all going to the cloud but waiting for the prices to go down. Prices went down, but the CDN providers are currently fighting with costs, and we may be at the bottom. So, WDYT, will the public CDNs take over? Are you familiar with large-scale TV providers that use them as their main CDN providers? Or will the "big ones" stay with their own HW on-prem?

Last year in the Streaming team, we did something amazing and made a huge financial and technical impact; I tried a couple of times to share it but couldn't. Now, I am excited to share a story of how we reduced network egress costs by 70% with just one line of code (Maybe less!). This effort not only reduced costs but also enhanced the user experience and scalability of our origin servers 😊. ⭐ A huge shoutout to the incredible engineers who were part of the team and helped during that period (Wojciech Maximilian F. Attended a great discussion at Galaxy 24 on how Amazon streaming services use LaunchDarkly to roll out features over devices of all form factors, and operating systems, in order to provide the best and most stable experience for users. Feature flags are only the surface, for a use case like Amazon you are leveraging an extremely complex cloud configuration for application or system behavior on an unprecedented scale. If configured correctly it enables a kaleidoscope of behaviorial changes within seconds, available at every level of the application and backend. Imagine coordinating the rollout of multiple client and server changes simultaneously completely decoupled from deployment, with internal testing in production! Additionally, this is an approach to test driven deployment that trancends the pitfalls of multiple environments. staging vs prod? Feature flag it. There are many different software solutions that are similar, regardless of which one you use I highly suggest that teams who believe in test driven development, include behavioral configuration as part of their strategy to roll out robust software.
