🌟 It’s been a while since I last shared an update, so I wanted to break the silence with some reflections. After 5 years in the HR space, I’m excited to share my top 5 lessons over the next 5 days. Day 1: People Are the Core In any company, especially startups, it’s easy to get caught up in product development, sales, and growth metrics. But what truly sets successful companies apart is their people. 🔑 Note to Employers: Your team is your most valuable asset. Without them, no product or strategy can succeed. When I joined an early-stage startup as the first HR manager, I led talent acquisition and filled over 80% of open positions, expanding the team from 12 to 27 members. This included bringing on top talent across all levels, from interns to senior management. By focusing on hiring individuals who weren’t just skilled but also aligned with our values, we built a team that was both talented and deeply committed to our mission. This alignment became our competitive edge. Takeaway: Invest time and resources in hiring, developing, and retaining the right people. When your people thrive, so does your business. This morning, while I browsed through the #job openings at my current company, GoGlobal, I was humbly reminded of why I joined this stellar company in the first place. It’s ironic that we join our companies for the big vision but often get too confined to our day-to-day roles and responsibilities. Sometimes, it’s nice to step back and look at the macros. We think you’ll agree! 💵 We’re transparent: Every month we openly share our strategy and financials, so you feel ownership of your role in the company’s success. 🤝 We’re structured as a partnership versus a corporation: We’re the only EOR in the world that’s structured this way, allowing us to attract some of the best talent since everyone has the opportunity to be a partner in the firm. 🐕 We are the scrappy underdog: We think it’s more fun to be a pirate than to be in the navy.

I've hit 120 days at Genomenon, Inc, and I'm proud of the remarkable progress our People team has made in less than 3 months. Here are some key milestones we've reached together: 1. Migrated to flexible PTO: Ensuring folks can take time away to recharge. 2. Upgraded benefits providers & finished open enrollment: Enhancing our benefits package. 3. Hired ~20 Team Members: Expanding our talented workforce. 4. Onboarded CKB's dedicated team: Strengthening collaboration and capabilities. 5. Held a US and Bosnian-based Summit: Fostering unity across our global team. 6. Wrote V1 Job Architecture for our largest teams: Establishing clear career and growth paths for people managers and makers alike. How did we achieve this so quickly? The answer lies in our incredible team and partners: 🙏 Supportive Community: I lean heavily on my network and their insightful LinkedIn content. Hebba Youssef, Elles Skony, Jim Conti, Justin Cardillo, Melanie Naranjo, and many more are pioneering the way in HR and People strategy. These folks likely don't know how much they inspire me! 💕 Excellent Partners: Thanks to our exceptional partners Fringe Benefit Analysts (Erin & Ernie), Sheridan White, and Alotten, for their unwavering support and expertise. 👯♂️ Dedicated Team: Alexis Taylor and Ajla Doljančić are world-class People partners, and Sean Kearney is a fantastic leadership partner. Their commitment and excellence drive our success every day. What have we learned? ✅ Prioritizing critical work has enabled us to achieve so much in a short time with limited resources. 🙅♀️ Deprioritization is equally important. This focus is key when leading a People function at a company of nearly 200 team members across two countries (especially compared to smaller orgs). 👩🚒 As a wise leader (Daniel Estrada) once told me: you have to let some fires burn because sometimes they extinguish themselves.
