Hello Accelerate Her Future (AHF) community! 👋🏼👋🏽👋🏾👋🏿 Whether you’re a new follower or have been in our community for a while, we want you to get a little bit more familiar with us and our philosophy as an organization! 🙌🏾 🚀Challenging the status quo We recognize the importance in supporting Indigenous, Black, and racialized women to succeed in their careers. We’re here to fix broken systems, not fix women. We’re here to serve our community so that they can navigate their careers with greater impact. We also seek to create equitable workplaces where women can thrive. The change we seek goes deeper than representation, and that is to create equity for all. 🤝Solidarity, not charity We, our community and our work are not charity. AHF is a for-profit social enterprise. This was an intentional decision and an act of agency to redefine deficit narratives. We engage with those we work with in equitable partnership. Standing in solidarity with us means we work side-by-side. 💥Changing the power dynamics We continually seek to redistribute resources and power. Our Founder’s pay is capped at 3-times the lowest-paid team member. In 2022, we donated 25% of profits to Indigenous- and Black-led charities and nonprofits. We invested the other 75% back into our operation and mission. 🫂Nothing about us, without us We take a “nothing about us, without us” approach in our work, and strive to embed it deeply in our DNA. We centre the voices, experiences, and expertise of Indigenous, Black, and racialized women in every aspect of our work, whether it’s our team, contractors, our Advisory Group, or our community. As feminist organizations continue to push for a more just and equitable world, we are facing a critical challenge: a severe lack of funding. This shortfall not only threatens the progress we’ve made but also disrupts the lives of those who dedicate themselves to advancing gender equity. As Emma Asiedu-Akrofi, our Chief Executive Officer, says in our most recent article: “This uncertainty wears on our teams, diminishing morale and making it harder to attract and retain the skilled individuals we desperately need. We face an additional challenge as a result: losing our most talented and committed individuals to other sectors due to low salaries, limited benefits, lack of pensions, and the uncertainty of precarious employment. ” As a sector, we urgently need funding and collaboration. For organizations like Fora, unrestricted funding trusts organizations like ours to adapt and respond to the real needs of our communities. These contributions, whether from individuals or businesses, are crucial to ensure we can continue driving change. Are we okay with feminism facing a funding crisis? I'm not. This exposition by Fora lays bare a troubling reality: "the fight for gender equality... is facing a serious funding crisis." This chilling assertion cuts deep, revealing a potential unraveling of decades of progress: "It strikes at the core of the feminist movement, undermining our ability to collectively push for systemic change." As a proud member of the Fora community, and no stranger to the fight for women's equality in the workplace, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of equipping women to lead. Yet, without urgent support, the vital infrastructures that propel our movement forward risk collapse. The socio-political and economic climate is demanding more from us now—more than ever before. To my network: reflect on what you can do. Whether it's through donations, amplifying this message, or engaging directly in advocacy, your action is vital right now. Let's fortify the backbone of the gender equity movement and preserve the gains for which so many have fought so hard. #GenderEquality #FeministMovement #SocialImpact #TimetoGive

Emma Asiedu-Akrofi reflections on the funding crisis and its impact on systems change work that advances gender equity is an important read and reminder that we need changes in the non-profit sector. Funding and resource sharing are the start! As I slowly build South Asian & Tamil Women's Collective, a grassroots organization that is trying to imagine what it can be in this ecosystem - my biggest challenge is with project-based funding, which leads to contract work for many young racialized women, and precarious employment. I am reminded continuously on how important the work we are leading in employment and career development are to the community, but the reality is we need sustainable funding and greater investment. We can't be in pilot project mode forever, which will ultimately lead to our burnout and non-existence in the future.

#internationalwomensday2024 IWD. 08/03/24 It is important that society take measures to ensure that the future for girls is bright, equal, safe and rewarding. #iwd2024 gives us a day to raise awareness, celebrate women, reflect on the progression made but also campaign for the change still needed. 'Women supporting women' was established in 2018 at the princes trust, to help young women who face disadvantage and adversity to transform their lives. If you are unsure how you can get involved in #iwd2024 visit the website below to learn more about 'Women supporting women' and get involved. A common question on IWD is, which women have inspired you the most? Of course, my daughter, sisters, Nieces, Mum and Nans but if I was to pick one notable public figure it would be Princess Diana. Why? At one point in her life, Princess Diana was supporting over 100 charities. She often utilized the media frenzy surrounding her own personal life to raise awareness and shine a light on a number of progressive humanitarian causes. After her passing, many of these charities suffered a shortfall in funding, showing just how much of a difference, an impact one woman can make. Princess Diana once said, 'Nothing brings me more happiness than to help the most vulnerable people in society. It is a goal and essential part of my life- a kind of destiny. Whoever is in distress can call on me, I will come running, wherever they are'. https://lnkd.in/eA9ZPgRT

Helping nonprofit leaders to save the world by curating a Board of Directors that will drive impact, financial stability, and long-term sustainability
Many nonprofits are focused on improving the lives of women, children, and other underserved groups. For me, this highlights the critical need for women to be present at the decision-making table. Equally, having a board that includes individuals from the communities the organization serves can be a powerful force for change. I work with nonprofits of all shapes and sizes, and I truly believe we should concentrate on fostering collaboration and inclusivity to drive real progress. What are some practical ways we can elevate more women into executive roles in nonprofits while encouraging men to engage in the issues affecting their communities? #nonprofit #genderequality #boarddevelopment

It's not just one day. Incredible People is passionate about supporting charities that provide sustainable opportunities and pathways to greater economic inclusion for women and girls everywhere. Not just on International Women’s Day, but throughout the year — because it takes a lot more than just one day a year to bring about change. This IWD, why not make it more than just one day, and find ways to support a charity long term, either through your organisation or business, as a volunteer or through regular donations — whether that is your time, donated items or financially. We know that when women are given equal opportunities to basic human rights to earn, learn and lead, entire communities thrive. So, on this IWD, here’s a shout out to just some of Perth’s many charities that you could suppport, who tirelessly work all year round to remove barriers and re-shape systems so that all women and girls around the world can realise their full potential and build better financial futures for us all. Dress for Success Western Australia - supports vulnerable women to achieve economic independence by providing them with professional clothing, career development workshops, and one-to-one job application support. Foxglove Project - dedicated to eradicating poverty in the Developing World by empowering women and girls to change their own lives. Perth Foundation for Women Ltd - dedicated to uplifting disadvantaged women and girls across Australia by providing essential support, services, and resources, creating a more equitable and empowering future for all. Operation Sunshine WA - volunteer led charity helping women and children displaced by family and domestic violence and/or under the care of child protection services in Western Australia. Are there some amazing charities who are empowering women in your state, town or country? Tell us about them by tagging them in the comments. #internationalwomensday2024 #iwd2024 #equalrights #equalityforall #notjustoneday #changemakers

Quit telling me you care. Show me you care. As you may have read, Women Who Code shut down last weekend. It is not enough to say you care. It is not enough to blame “DEI-demise”. Every single one of us has a responsibility. Every single one of us has a role to play. And every single one of us, has the power to affect change. It’s not enough to ⏺ hire one woman ⏺ Mentor one woman ⏺ Give a talk on diversity ⏺ Say that you care but you are just busy Do something. Take action. Support our communities. ⏺ Partner with an org like SheTO that’s actually moving the needle ⏺ Donate to organizations that are doing the work, like SheTO ⏺ Or actually do the work and lead programs which bring change #community #womenintech

Today is International Women's Day, where we do something we honestly ought to do every day: appreciate the wonderful women who keep this world turning. The holiday was originally intended in part to support equal suffrage for women, and though that right has been won, there are still many more roadblocks to overcome before true equality. It should be noted as well that the United Nations, which has done much to promote IWD, has themed each edition of it around different issues that women are working to overcome. This year's theme, "Invest in Women," focuses on addressing poverty-related challenges. In honor of that, we'd like to encourage donations to these important resources: * CARE, an organization that works in the United States and abroad, including Ukraine and Gaza, to help remedy issues of poverty and starvation through the empowerment of local women and providing resources; * Up With Women / Exponenti'elles, a Canadian charity focused on supporting and uplifting women and gender-diverse individuals through a unique and powerful coaching system. Thank you for supporting these charities, or whichever you choose to donate to on #iwd2024. As we move into a future of #womenleadingchange, we must do our best to remember the sacrifices of those who came before us, and to do our best to uplift one another.

2% of funding goes to female enterprises and out of that 2%, 00.9% approximately goes to women of colour. Yet as I found out today 36 of women make up the revenue. I won’t be limited, nor do I encourage anyone else to be limited by a statistic, they can always be broken but don’t let them break your dreams We haven’t reached our goal, nor to be transparent are we close but there is still time to make a difference if you want to be apart of change. Nevertheless I’m committed regardless to reaching our goal. Click on the link to learn more or donate: https://lnkd.in/gV9jBj_y #femalefounders #mentalhealth #socialenterprise #woc

💰 Are You Missing Out on Women Donors? Stop Losing Money! 🚫 #Wealth distribution is generally shifting towards #women. But, today's donation campaigns and philanthropic programs target men. Yet, studies reveal that women and men donate differently - so, a one-size-approach is definitely not going to work in upcoming years! 🌟 A thousand thanks to Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP Global) for giving this overview on how best to start tailoring programmes and fundraising to women givers. Some tips: 1. 📚 Prioritise Education: Women prefer to educate themselves before donating. Foster conversations and connect them with other women donors. 2. 💖 Emphasise Empathy: Tailor your messaging to focus on the impact of giving. Women respond better to appeals that highlight helping others. 3. 🔍 Acknowledge Giving Styles: Women often give smaller amounts to more organisations. Move beyond traditional wealth screenings to understand their unique giving patterns. 4. 🌐 Utilise Social Media: Platforms like Giving Tuesday are ideal for engaging women donors, who are active online and often collaborate in giving. 5. 🕒 Consider Life Stages: Women’s giving can change throughout their lives. Adapt your strategies to meet them where they are, using the Five Ts: time, talent, treasure, testimony, and ties.
