𝐔𝐒𝐀 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐓𝟐𝟎 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐂𝐮𝐩 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐠 🔥 Finally T20 WC 2024 ( Hosts - WI , USA) has started. First match was played between oldest rivals USA vs Canada. USA chased down the target of 195 quite comfortably. Now you must be wondering, Oldest Rivals. But how ? A cricket club called the St George's Club was founded in Manhattan, New York by English elites residing there. However, the locals were not allowed. Even after being super exclusive, the club managed to invite Toronto Club from Canada for the three-day game. The match was called 'Canada vs USA' in 1844 and could be called the first-ever international cricket game. The rivalry that started back then continued in the form of the 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐮𝐩. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐬 , however, started in 1877, 33 years later, and thus the US vs Canada rivalry becomes older than the oldest known cricketing rivalry in the world. 10 Players of Indian origin were the part of both the teams playing eleven combined. We will often see the players of India, Pak, New Zealand, Barbados, South African origin players in various associate Nations participating in this World Cup. USA & Canada are the part of India's group in the league stage. Looking forward to see Uganda in action soon as well. That's another team with bunch of talents. Netherlands are known for upsets. They have bundled out South Africa in the last T20 WC in Australia. So, which associate nation team you are looking forward for in this World Cup? By the way, India will start their campaign against Ireland on 5th June. #t20worldcup

I was sceptical of this team ahead of the World Cup. Time and again, I have said that I felt India would find it hard to progress beyond the semi-final. I felt that England and Australia were better T20 teams, and India is a better 50-overs and Test side. So far, they have proved me wrong. And never can you be as happy as when your national team exceeds expectations and proves you wrong. Yes, they have already exceeded expectations for me. But now, can they go the distance? Can they make it the perfect farewell for Rahul Dravid, and script the moment that will define Rohit Sharma as skipper? Can they end the 11-year-long curse and add to India’s ICC title list? South Africa are no pushovers. They have all bases covered. With a bowling attack led by Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje, pace was never an issue. Marco Jansen brings the left-arm variety and Keshav Maharaj is one of the best left-arm spinners around. Finally, in Tabraiz Shamsi, South Africa have someone who can pick up wickets in the middle overs and push the opposition back. Read: https://lnkd.in/g6PjVVND

🏏 It’s been 83 hours since the Indian Cricket Team celebrated their win over South Africa in a cut-throat, nail-biting, and anxiety-inducing ICC T-20 World Cup Finals 🏏 It's a fact that cricket matches may come and go, but the 29th of June will forever be etched in the memories of every person who had the pleasure of witnessing this extraordinary game. Personally, I watched the match with a hundred others from my society. As I glanced around during the first innings, it became clear that this match was unlike any other. The spectators weren't just there for the thrill or interest; there was a shared purpose. 1.4 billion people surrendered their emotions to the 11 incredible players on the field that day. It was a moment when the entire nation found themselves living and breathing every play of that remarkable game. As I was experiencing a range of emotions, I couldn't help but think about how the players must have been feeling at that moment. As a viewer completely uninvolved in the game, if I was feeling such intense emotions, I wondered what must be going through their minds. And that’s when I realized that this match is a living example of so many life lessons. When the scoreboard read – “30 runs needed in 30 balls”, I relinquished all hope, yet those 11 extraordinary players didn’t let their guard down even for a second. They put in 100% effort even during a losing phase and turned it into one of the greatest victories of all time. 19th November is a sour memory for all of us, and just when we thought we would have to relive that feeling of dismay, I saw the raw intent in the eyes of everyone on that field. Such determination has the power to surpass all past obstacles and setbacks. And perhaps most importantly, despite not striking gold in the last decade, they continued to dig. It’s a powerful reminder that success often comes after much perseverance and dedication. One never knows how close they are to their end goal. It’s a notion that spurs us to keep pushing forward, to keep searching, and to keep believing that the next shovel of dirt might reveal our long-awaited prize. #T20worldcup2024 #ICC #Worldchampions #BCCI #IndianCricketTeam

Cricket - a sport I don't play and I can only watch compilation of highlights, not even match highlights. But in the world of (sports) business, cricket is extremely important and growing in importance. 1) the T20 world cup opened to more "smaller" particpants of which the US is included. Now think how MLS has grown... 2) IPL has crazy broadcasting revenue. Now think how much more it can get with new found exposure... 3) India! is this the breakout moment for India's sport business scene? 4) So many retired legends, akin to when NZ Rugby won the world cup in 2015. At that point, so many "new" countries broke out to become big time teams in world rugby. Cricket can be the same, if done right. And then watch the cricket revenue grow... #sportsbusiness https://lnkd.in/g5tEFQ2b

Australia are a much better team in comparison to India. They aspire to be Asian Cup champions and are a side that has played every FIFA World Cup since 2006. Most of their players play in the leading leagues in the world, and ahead of the Asian Cup, they have played a practice game and trained to their best. In every sense, they are a superior outfit and almost impossible to beat. And yet, we expect India to compete. We expect the Blue Tigers to not be overawed and run the hardest they can for 95 minutes and push the Socceroos. We expect them to get physical and chase every ball and not cede an inch of turf to their more fancied opponents. In sum, we want the Indians led by Sunil Chhetri to fight and keep at it till the final whistle is blown. And that’s where the change has happened. India aren’t overawed. They aren’t in Doha to make up the numbers. They won’t just wish for a miracle and start crowding up the defensive third from the first minute. Rather, they will try to play a high press and stay compact. Not allow the Australians to get set-piece opportunities and keep a good shape. That’s the new Indian football team we are expecting to see in Doha. Read: https://lnkd.in/gPD94XhH Boria Majumdar Sharmistha Gooptu

Is the Indian Women's Cricket Team experiencing a decline in white ball format? Despite commendable efforts in T20 and ODI World Cups, reaching finals but falling short, it's apparent that teams like Australia and England dominate women's cricket. While the team has performed really well in red ball cricket, the focus must shift to improving performance in white ball formats, especially with the 2024 World Cup approaching. The challenge ahead is to win against formidable opponents to make it big in the World Cup. #IndianCricket #BCCI #WomenCricket #T20WorldCup2024
