Interpersonal communication in the workplace might sound easy for us to execute because this is the type of communication we will be doing most of our lives. We may be familiar with key components of interpersonal communication; such as the term communicators, the way we convey messages, the noise that needs to be addressed (gap, language barriers, inattention), and the feedback provided as the response. However, it becomes more challenging once we encounter a misunderstanding through the process itself. A week ago, I gained new insight from the British Council course “TeachingEnglish: Communication Skills”. I found the “Listening Spectrum” mentioned which led me to the self-reflection after the session, it inspired me to improve my interpersonal communication skills. Long this time, I was just concerned about how to produce the language and deliver my words to achieve the effectiveness of transferring messages without noticing that am I good enough as a listener. The listening spectrum has changed my perspective on the importance of utilizing our receptive skills (through listening to someone) without any judgment so that we can be more focused on the content and avoid misunderstandings. #InterpersonalCommunication #CommunicationSkills #ListeningSpectrum #HumanRelations
