Enabling Accessible Digital Safety Learning and Prevention | INSINTO | Digital Woof | Collaboration is Key.
Got that Friday feeling? Here's a feel good post to top off your week! As the amazing Julie Kent MBE has mentioned in the past, Digital Woof is proudly supporting Emilys Gift in its fundraising efforts to support families and children with cancer across #Gloucestershire. When I first met Julie, I was fortunate enough to be sitting in Ellie Bradshaw's podcast audience, and hearing the story of Emily, and Julie's determined fight to turn a heartbreaking moment into something truly beautiful. Not embarrassed to say, I shed a tear or two! From that moment, we've pledged £2,000 over the next 10 years in our efforts to do the best we can in making the world a better place for children and their families. Although it's not in the realm of children's safety online, it's still children and families that need the support - that's enough of an excuse for me. I strongly encourage everyone to donate to or share this mission, and if you can donate the value of a Costa Coffee, please do! As we reach the 11-day mark for DRY JULY, I'm feeling proud of myself for sticking to my commitment and already noticing some amazing benefits. The cravings have decreased, my skin is glowing, and my body is thanking me for the extra hydration boost! But let's get real - this isn't just about me. By choosing to participate in DRY JULY, I'm not only improving my own health, but also standing in solidarity with those who have been affected by cancer. Did you know that 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime? It's a statistic that's far too high, and that's why I'm choosing to make a difference. By abstaining from alcohol for the month of July, I'm raising money for cancer victims and supporting those who are fighting the good fight against this terrible disease. So, I invite you to join me on this journey! Let's come together to make a difference and show our support for those affected by cancer. It's easy - simply lookup DRY JULY and spread the word! Or visit https://lnkd.in/gSPmZqyE Together, we can make a difference and bring hope to those who need it most. Let's take a stand against cancer and raise a glass (of water) to a healthier, happier us! Who's with me? #DryJuly #CancerAwareness #HealthyLiving #MakeADifference Dry July 2024 is proudly supporting : • Look Good Feel Better - Ensures any person facing cancer can access free, practical programmes to help them face cancer with confidence. • PINC & STEEL NZ - Supports people in their recovery from cancer treatment through their rehabilitation and exercise programmes. • Prostate Cancer Foundation NZ - Provides support services for men and their families affected by prostate cancer, including a freephone information line, a free counselling service, a nationwide network of support groups and Prost-FIT classes. See below stories of how these organisations will utilise the funds raised to help those affected by cancer.

I don't ask of others for much. It's just not how I am built. However, there are times when getting the message out to gain as much support as possible is worth the ask. This is one of those times. If you've never heard of Hogs for the Cause, it is a two-day BBQ charity festival in New Orleans, LA, raising money to support families with children battling brain cancer. Pediatric Brain Cancer. Awful, terrible disease. Those afflicted with cancer struggle mightily. Yet, cancer is not isolated to the individual as it greatly affects those closest to the person, in this case, the child. No, this is not a personal story meant to tug at your emotional strings. This is not about me. This post is for children and families struggling with pediatric brain cancer. Our team, Swinel Richie -- yes, the team owner is a Lionel Richie super fan -- is one of nearly 100 teams that compete each year, with each team responsible for raising as much as they can. I ask you to consider donating to support this worthy cause (link below). I know giving can be tough, so if you can't, no worries. Could you help spread the word by reposting this? If you are in the area, consider attending the festival. It is an excellent event with live music, games, drinks, and as much BBQ as you'd ever want to eat. April 4th and 5th at the UNO Lakefront. https://lnkd.in/gJp_VNu9

Over the last four years, I've donated my hair twice to support cancer patients. Each time, I’ve been reminded of the power of small actions in making a significant impact. Why I Do It: Restoring Confidence:A wig can truly help someone feel like themselves again during a challenging time. Building Community:It’s about connecting with those who are fighting cancer and showing them they are not alone. If you’re considering donating, I encourage you to take the plunge! Your hair could bring hope and joy to someone in need. Let’s spread awareness and inspire others to join this meaningful cause. Together, we can make a difference—one haircut at a time. #HairDonation #CancerSupport #CommunityImpact #MakeADifference

Direct mail in 2024? Yes! Direct mail continues to be effective at Dr. Susan Love Fund for Breast Cancer Research and Tower Cancer Research Foundation due to the tangible, personal touch that stands out in the digital age. Direct mail complements digital campaigns, providing a multi-channel approach that reinforces the message and increases engagement. QR codes and personalized URLs can bridge the gap between offline and online giving. But unlike emails, that can be easily overlooked or marked as spam, direct mail creates a physical presence, making it harder to ignore. It can evoke emotional responses through compelling narrative, design and imagery, fostering a greater sense of connection and urgency. Direct mail campaigns can also be highly targeted, reaching specific demographics with tailored appeals. This tangible and personalized approach helps build trust and engagement, leading to higher donation rates and sustained donor relationships. #directmail #fundraising #donors #donations #towercancer

Hi again friends and connections and Happy Dry July Eve. Last Tuesday I posted that I was participating in Dry July to raise funds to help people suffering from cancer. I set myself a (apparently too modest) target of $500 (AUD) for the month of July. Well, that target was passed on about 28 June, so I have had to revise my fundraising target – I now think that $1500 is achievable. With almost 2,000 connections between LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram, I just need a hit rate of 10% of all of you to donate $5 (you can’t buy a drink for that anywhere), and then I’ll get to the $1,500 with room to spare. If you are donating in Euros, GB Pounds, or US Dollars, I’ll be happy with 3 (euro, GBP, USD). This is also a little bit of an experiment about the social medial algorithms. We know that posts don’t go to all our friends and connections, so improving the reach of this post is really important. A huge thankyou to the people who have already donated and also to those who have commented on and shared posts – you are putting these algorithms to work to help cancer sufferers. One final thing, in preparation for Dry July, I have abstained from alcohol this week, so I have done the hard part – breaking the habit. I’m sleeping better and my clothes are ‘not as firm’. A win/win situation. If you want to get involved just go to this website www.dryjuly.com #cancer #dryjully #healthyhabits

One of our values at NPX is “Do Good Things.” This value refers to making an impact in the clean energy industry, in our communities, and in the world. As an employee at NPX, I am empowered to participate in community initiatives that other employees have initiated. However, I’m also empowered to start my own initiatives related to social causes I’m passionate about. This is an exciting aspect of being part of such a forward thinking company. I truly have the freedom and resources to shape the world in a positive way. One initiative that I’ve decided to take upon myself is participating in the Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run. I’ve created a team for friends and family called Family Power 2.0. As a team, we hope to raise money to help advance breast cancer research, prevention efforts, and treatment. Efforts like this will help keep families together and allow survivors to live beyond their diagnosis. Ultimately, there is always someone to run/walk for during the month of October. Whether it be a family member, a friend, an acquaintance, or a stranger. You never know who will be impacted by the disease, but we can all work together to ensure that those we do get diagnosed have hope for a future free of breast cancer. I’d love to hear who you’ll be running/walking for on October 6? Please share your response in the comments if you feel comfortable! If you’re not registered for the event, it’s not too late to join a team or sign up as an individual participant. There are events happening in numerous locations across Canada. Click this link to find an event near you: https://lnkd.in/g-TyJJWM If you’re not able to participate in the event, please consider donating to this cause using my fundraising link: https://lnkd.in/gp9Nx97e #NPX #CompanyCulture #CommunityImpact #DoGoodThings #CIBCrunforthecure #breastcancerresearch #breastcancerawareness #CanadianCancerSocietyCIBCrun #CanadianCancerSociety #weallhaveareasontorun #runforthecure #CIBCrun
