Grief support groups are free and available to anyone in the community who has experienced a loss. Generally, they meet once or twice a month year-round. These groups are beneficial because they provide a place to begin sharing your grief with others who have suffered a loss. They also promote building long-term supportive relationships. One of the fundamental step changes in the services provided. Please read, share and if possible, support
𝗜𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟵 Nicola Rhodes 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝘂𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝗕𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗲’𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲🩵 The decision to provide early therapeutic support and bereavement counselling was a huge step for the charity but one that we all felt very strongly about. Nicola has developed and grown the service from the beginning. Last year we provided 758 1-1 sessions with a team of 6 bereavement counsellors. Nicola and Emily now share management of Bodie’s Bereavement Service due to its growth and Nicola will be looking at how we can develop our offer further over the coming months. Donna Hodges our CEO said... “As soon as I met Nicola, I knew that she was the right person to take my vision for early therapeutic support and counselling and develop it into a special service to support families bereaved of a child. A lot has changed in the 5 years since we sat down together and made plans to make a vision a reality. A huge thank you to Nicola from all at Team Bodie for all her hard work and dedication" 🥰 #TeamBodie #ChildBereavement #BereavementSupport Nick Hodges - Andy Stubbs - Gemma Orton - Lindsey Langford - Emma Stanbanks - George Corbett - Ruth Johnson - Lucy Cervasio - angela sterland - Glenda Creasey - Lindsay Woodward - Amanda Donkin - Sarah Helton - Marjolein Cleaver - Kate Jackson - Jenny Burtonwood

Development of Compassionate Communities We have received a large number of responses to our survey on Compassionate Communities since it was launched in Spring 2023. We will use what you tell us to inform the key aims of our Compassionate Communities project. Here is some of the feedback that you have kindly shared with us so far: • Nearly 50% of people told us that they felt isolated after a bereavement. • 72% of people felt that a support group made up of people with similar experiences would be of particular help to carers and family members and 55% of people would be interested in supporting such a group. • 64% of people also felt that a telephone support line would be helpful. • 82% of people who had experienced a bereavement told us that the opportunity to share memories of the person who had died helped them and 72% of people found it useful to do something in memory of their loved one. A huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to complete our survey and to help inform our plans. There is still the opportunity to help shape our work on the development of Compassionate Communities. If you are able to, please log on to our website using the link below and answer a few questions. It should take no more than 5 minutes: https://lnkd.in/eyRY_WWg

Our Befrienders are volunteers who support grieving families. It’s one of the services we’re most proud of, but why is it such an invaluable service for people? Here are a few answers: 💛 Lived experience – they too have grieved a much-loved child 💙 Compassion – they have a desire to come alongside others facing this unique pain 💛 Tailored – we match grandparents with grandparents, siblings with siblings, etc. 💙 Companionship – no one need go through this grief alone 💛 Training – they receive comprehensive training so you’re in good hands 💙 Time – it's at least 4yrs since their bereavement so they’re further along the journey - If you would like support from a Befriender or would like to become one yourself, tap here: https://bit.ly/3qGfaOm #VolunteersWeek

Steve says: 'It is evident that funeral ceremonies serve as an essential springboard for managing grief post-funeral. By providing cathartic structure, community support, and emotional expression, funeral ceremonies play a vital role in helping us navigate the complexities of grief.' In every ceremony Steve creates, there are five components. Steve calls them his 5 C's. Look out for his series of posts coming soon. #funeralservice #funeralceremony

Everyone deserves to feel like this when they're doing the work they love ;-) But seriously, while one-on-one work is deeply fulfilling, and I have such a tender place in my heart for my clients, community grief tending is what we need more of. And it's a joy to be in partnership with the Philly Goat Project, bringing grief walks in nature to the public. #griefwork #griefsupport #griefcoaching #beyourowngoat
