📢 The Utah Center for Legal Inclusion envisions a future where our state is recognized not only for educating and producing legal talent but also for its commitment to nurturing and retaining that talent. 📲 This survey intends to collect data from individuals who received a law degree from a school in Utah, but are no longer practicing law in the state of Utah. 🫵🏼 If you fit this description, please respond to the Utah Legal Retention Survey. It should take 10-15 minutes. We are hopeful that the results will help us understand how UCLI may better work with state legal institutions, law schools, law firms, and corporations to ensure that the legal professionals who begin their journey in Utah continue to shape the future of our state, leading to a brighter and more just tomorrow. 👉🏽 https://lnkd.in/gtEi--GF #UCLI #UtahLaw

The legal industry has made strides in recent years to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, but the numbers show there is still work to be done. While over a quarter of associate attorneys are people of color, only a portion of that number makes it to partnership eligibility. This means that there are still roadblocks preventing diverse attorneys from reaching the upper echelons of their firms. Join us on December 13th for an eye-opening discussion that will explore the logistical and hidden roadblocks that diverse attorneys face on their path to partnership. From implicit bias and lack of mentorship to all of the elephants in the room, our panel of experienced attorneys will discuss the impact of these roadblocks on their own careers, what strategies can be used to overcome them, and the effect this lack of diversity has on legal accessibility. Presented by: 3i Law, Project Ganesha, Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Colorado, South Asian Bar Association of Colorado, Colorado Hispanic Bar Association (CHBA), and Sam Cary Bar Association Register here: https://lnkd.in/eZ-y6XbP Grant Shibao Chuong M. Founder | VIISTA; Immigrant Advocate; Law Professor & Faculty Fellow, Office of the Provost; TEDx Speaker & Licensee, 2024@RockefellerFdn #RFBellagio Resident
Lawyer Nation by Ray Brescia is a must read for every lawyer, law professor, law student, really everyone! I am reading it now from the beautiful #RFBellagio. Ray’s book makes a huge contribution to our understanding of the legal profession-its institutions, habits, mental models, and practices and asks us to consider whether the profession is living up to its potential at this time when access to justice is unattainable to so many. The book has been foundational for me as I think BIG about ways to expand immigrant access to justice from Rockefeller Foundation’s idyllic Bellagio Center. My strategy for expanding the field of accredited representatives is bold! Still a work in progress. Will share more thoughts soon. #a2j, #lawyer #immigrant

We are pleased to announce the upcoming Interest Session for The Mitchell L. McLean Trial Competition autumn mock trial session! This year's Fall Trial is focused on Arbitration/Mediation, Class Action Lawsuits, and Civil Litigation. This is open to all IE Law School students! (This year's spring trial will be open to external university participation!) Eligibility: The competition, and thus the interest session, is open to IE Law School students across all year levels and from both campuses, demonstrating our commitment to inclusivity and diverse participation. Teams are comprised of 4-6 people, preferably from the same campus (students pick their own teams, or can ask to be randomly placed). Space Limitations: Please be advised that availability is extremely limited. Participation slots will be allocated on a strictly first-come-first-serve basis. Event Modality: This is an in-person event, ensuring an enriching interactive experience. However, for those situated in Segovia and facing logistical challenges, some provisions have been made for online participation. We urge all interested students to act promptly in securing their place in this distinguished event. Further details pertaining to the interest session date and the registration process are located on the IE Connects page, or by visiting www.elsaie.org/mocktrial. This is an excellent way to expose yourself to courtroom litigation. Attending the interest session does not automatically place you on a team or enroll you in the competition. Your active participation and pursuit of legal excellence are highly encouraged. We look forward to a robust and enlightening competition. See you then!
