According to HR and benefits consulting firm, Segal and WTW, despite inflation in the US being in it's lowest rate in 3 years, medical care costs has consistently been on the rise.The impact on the healthcare sector in 2025 can be seen in the projected health plan costs. Medical plan cost trends are expected to grow by a median of 8%, showing the highest increase in 15 years. The outpatient prescription drugs is expected to see a rise of 11.4%. Since GLP-1 weight loss medications are a significant contributor to rising prescription drug expenditures, employers will continue to monitor them closely. According to WTW's survey, obesity and weight management is a top focus area for employers as they seek to address affordability and employee well-being.
