If you are a senior finance professional You need to be in the office! Too many people looking for hybrid work with very little physical presence or none at all in some cases How do you expect to get to know your team properly or build a proper rapport with your colleagues Look, I'm all for some flexibility with working set ups but lets not take the mick Far too many people turning good opportunities down because it's not on their doorstep. I remember the world did used to function pretty well before hybrid working was introduced Don't limit your opportunities based on 1 perk, see the bigger picture sometimes #getrecruited #accountsandfinance #recruitment

Something that sparked a debate in our office - Friday drinks. Most business owners want employees that contribute and support the company culture and Friday drinks in the pub is one of those BUT surely this alienates the parents (or the people that don't want to go to the pub/have other plans outside of work)? I believe there are lots of things that can be implemented that supports company culture all within working hours and it doesn't just need to be down the pub on a Friday. The people who liked the Friday drinks said they liked it as it allowed them to switch off from work and really get to know their colleagues. What are your thoughts? “I love my job but I just can’t keep doing these crazy hours, it’s burning me out” Is the most common thing public accountants say to me. And usually they want to move out of public to try a hand in private for ‘better work life balance’. However, when they move into private, they usually end up missing public accounting. Instead of moving into private, I say to my candidates…”why not go for more of a lifestyle type firm?” Lifestyle + CPA firm aren’t usually used in the same sentence so it’s no surprise I’m met with a lot of questions about what that means. It means: - Family always comes first, no more missing out on important events to finish a 1040. - Paid straight time - Genuinely max 60 hours during busy season for tax, and 45 for audit - Flexi time schedule to fit in with your lifestyle They are based in Northern New Jersey and operate a hybrid working schedule. We are helping them recruit for tax managers and audit seniors. Industry experience in non profit, manufacturing, construction or real estate is advantageous. What if a new hire doesn’t fix everything in your firm? I see this often with advisors… They have a big problem they want to fix (like feeling stretched too thin as they grow their firm and serve an increasing amount of clients), but they pick the wrong solution. Right problem, wrong solution. Maybe this is you… You feel overwhelmed with everything you’re juggling right now, and you may think you need to hire. Increasing your support is one solution. But I want to warn you that a new hire doesn’t fix everything. I’m a fan of hiring, but only when it’s truly needed. Here’s why: Systems are cheaper than payroll. A new hire will not fix all the chaos in your firm. In fact, a new team member can amplify the disorder if you’re not operating well. This is a big problem I know advisors like you face. And although the problem feels complicated, the solution is not complex. In my monthly membership for advisors, we’re tackling this topic head-on: ➡️ How to Optimize Your Firm and Outrageously Reduce Your Workload 🗓️ Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Eastern (New York) 🙋 Register for your seat here: https://lnkd.in/gsdkPj7 We are going to share how to: • Get your firm as efficient as possible (remember, systems are cheaper than payroll). • Identify tasks you can immediately cut (even if you’ve “always been doing them”). • How to effortlessly delegate tasks to free you up ASAP (I’ll show you how I do it). Here’s the best part: The guest who will join me this month will be my right-hand team member, Jacqueline. We’ll swing open the back doors of Behavior Gap and show you EXACTLY how we implement what we are sharing with our own in-house team. We also asked REAL ADVISORS a powerful question that we will share the answers to: “What are 1-2 things you stopped doing in your firm that would shock other advisors? And HOW did you stop doing it?!” We’ll share their real answers with you if you attend. This alone will be worth signing up for! What if a few simple changes to your firm and workflow could change who you hire next? That’s what we’ll be talking about with hundreds of other advisors in our one-time workshop this July, come join us. https://lnkd.in/dAde4zvE (Even if you can't attend live, sign up anyway. I'll send you the replay.) Let’s reduce your workload so we can increase your impact. Efficiency is your best hire!

Your accountant should be doing more than your taxes. Are they? | Premier accounting, consulting, and CFO services for business owners seeking an expert financial + business partner | Founder at Goldmunzer Co.
Don’t make this mistake ⚠️ Do not hire an employee before having a written contract stipulating all the terms clearly. Some business owners think that since they have a small business, and they have a personal relationship with their employees, they do not need a formal contract. Employees may require flexibility in their schedules, such as taking a day off, leaving early, or arriving late, due to family obligations. However, frequent absences can negatively impact business productivity. This is where the written contract comes in. Everything is clearly stipulated: - Personal days - Holiday schedule - Sick days - Emergency leave Having a written contract in place ensures both parties clearly understand their obligations and expectations. When you hire a new employee do you write a formal contract? #GoldenCPAnuggets #Business #Accounting

The corporate slave. Entry 1. This is an illustration of a journey: from a corporate worker to a corporate slave. The corporate worker has a side-hustle that he really believes in. He calls it his passion. Chapter 1: The worker who indulges in a side hustle looks at other corporate slaves. He sees that they live their lives, every day post-work. They call their friends over, maybe have a few drinks, and then wake just in time for the next day. On a Friday night, they go a bit overboard. So much so that the rest of their next day is solely for recuperating and rejuvenating. With the hangover of an entire week and an entire bottle of whiskey, the corporate slaves relax. They unwind. The Saturday night is the last chance for them to claim their freedom over the hangover that is about to come: The next week. Chapter 2: The side-hustle corporate worker looks at his own life. He sees that he wants to work on his passion after work. All his fellow corporate slaves are meeting up. Having fun without him. He feels left out. Sure. It's a sacrifice for his passion. He works on his passion. Monday, the office colleagues are having a dinner party to blow off steam from the client. The corporate worker says "no. I have some personal work." Tuesday, everyone's hanging out at the office because one of them didn't finish their work in time. The corporate worker leaves saying "he has some personal work." Wednesday, everyone's going to watch the new Joker film that just dropped. Chapter 3: Thursday, the corporate worker feels a bit stressed. His colleagues and him have had a tough day. The client was particularly bitchy about what they presented. The heat has subsided as the clock points at 7:00 PM. His colleagues say "Man, I need a fucking drink tonight. I'm going for a beer." All of them go to the nearest bar. The waiter waves hello to the colleagues and look at the corporate worker. And that's when all parties know that among the ashes, the phoenix has risen: A new corporate slave is born. Moral of the story? I don't know. I really am enjoying the life I am living right now. I have good days and bad. But it's been around 3 years I have been working in agencies. And they are great places to work in. But I have slowly been letting go of my passion. Because you once join the workforce, life starts to pass by quickly. Dates start blurring, months start blending and years look like similar shades of blue. I'm just afraid. I just wonder is there an end to this. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel. Is there music beyond the wall?
