The FutureTech group at MIT's CSAIL, along with a team of collaborators, has compiled a database of documents containing over 700 potential risks associated with advanced AI systems. This database represents the most comprehensive source of information on previously identified issues that could emerge from the development and deployment of these models. The team combed through peer-reviewed journal articles and preprint databases that detail AI risks. This database opens the door for future research. . Excerpt: "Adopting AI can be fraught with danger. Systems could be biased, or parrot falsehoods, or even become addictive. And that’s before you consider the possibility AI could be used to create new biological or chemical weapons, or even one day somehow spin out of our control. " . . . 🗣️ As a #WednesdayWrapUp Mary Guzman summarizes her time at The Sedona Conference with two fascinating takeaways from the culmination of the fascinating sessions: 1️⃣ How Long a Trade Secret Can Stay Secret with #AI: The Sedona Conference shed light 💡 on the intriguing question of how long a #tradesecret can remain secret in the age of AI. With the rapid advancements in AI technologies, businesses must recognize the potential risks that arise when AI algorithms can deduce and extract valuable information. Discussions at the conference centered around the challenges of safeguarding trade secrets from AI's ability to analyze vast amounts of data and detect patterns that were previously unseen. 2️⃣ Crediting Independent Development When Using AI Tools: Another thought-provoking topic explored at the conference was whether individuals can still be credited with independent development when utilizing AI tools. As AI becomes increasingly prevalent in various industries, it is vital to address the issue of ownership and acknowledgment. While AI tools can enhance creativity and productivity, it raises questions about the extent to which human input is required to be considered an independent developer. 🧠💡As AI becomes more sophisticated, companies must proactively adapt their strategies to protect their proprietary information, implementing robust security measures and staying vigilant in monitoring potential breaches. #CoverYourAssets #SafeguardSuccess #Insurance #ProtectingIP

Massachusetts Institute of Technology researchers have recently launched AI risk repository which includes over 700 AI risks extracted from 43 existing frameworks, grouped by causal factors (e.g. intentionality), domains (e.g. discrimination) and subdomains (e.g. disinformation and cyberattacks). The Causal Taxonomy of AI Risks classifies how, when, and why these risks occur. The Domain Taxonomy of AI Risks classifies these risks into seven domains (e.g., “Misinformation”) and 23 subdomains (e.g., “False or misleading information”). The 7 domains are: 1️⃣ Discrimination & Toxicity 2️⃣ Privacy & Security 3️⃣ Misinformation 4️⃣ Malicious actors and misuse 5️⃣ Human-computer interaction 6️⃣ Socioeconomic & environmental harms 7️⃣ AI systems safety, failures and limitations https://airisk.mit.edu/ It's free and you can download the repository using following link. The team believes that it's a first comprehensive review of AI risk frameworks and taxonomies which extracts their risks and releases that data for further adaptation and use. https://lnkd.in/gNwzWq3G It can be useful for the customers to conduct internal risk assessments, evaluate risk exposure and developing risk mitigation strategies. Great work for such a comprehensive repository, team !! #AIRiskRepository #AIRisk #GenAI
