Is it true luxury, or just a label? After many years in the furniture industry, this is a question I keep asking myself. We’ve worked on extraordinary projects for major brands, tackling complex technical challenges to turn designers’ visions into reality. But other times, the focus was more on the label than the product: corners were cut because the name alone was enough to “make the difference.” Today, the challenges are not just technical: we also have to consider the environmental impact of what we create. And here, the story repeats itself. There are those who work with real purpose and consistency toward sustainability – and collaborating with them is truly inspiring – and then there are others who settle for compromise: “Yes, it’s beautiful and sustainable, but we have no budget.” Better to spend it on marketing and brand perception, rather than on real environmental action and quality. This raises a deeper question: are customers really aware of what they are buying? Are they purchasing a product that truly represents exceptional quality and authentic values, or just a label – an idea of luxury without substance? Next time you choose a “luxury” product, ask yourself: what’s really behind it? Materials, sustainability, real quality… or just a name?
