🌟 Scholarship Spotlight: Arjun Dave 🌟
Arjun Dave, a member of the Middlesex Team at John P. Stevens High School, always had a passion for creating and building. 👷♂️ From a young age, he channeled that energy into projects like Legos and later, more ambitious designs. 🧱 His journey with the ACE Mentor Program of New Jersey began in his freshman year, during the height of COVID, when he participated in an online project to design a homeless shelter. Each year, Arjun’s curiosity grew, and ACE Mentor gave him a platform to immerse himself in engineering through weekly meetings and projects. By his senior year, he was elected president of the Middlesex Team, demonstrating his passion for business, engineering, and leadership. 👨💼
One of Arjun's proudest accomplishments was masterminding the Hawkiitects’ submission for the Construction Industry Round Table (CIRT) Shoreline competition. His team’s innovative designs, including inflatable seawalls and plastic roads, led them to a third-place finish—an unprecedented achievement for any JP Stevens team. 🥉 Ice cream for everybody! 🍨
Encouraged by mentors like DIGroupArchitecture's LoriAnne Jones, AIA, NOMA, JP Stevens Technology Education Teacher Therese May, and Turner Construction Company's Dexter Hendricks, MCA, LEED AP, Arjun applied for and was awarded the $10,000 The Debra C. Parmentola Foundation Scholarship at ACE NJ’s 25th Annual Scholarship Dinner. 💰 Now studying at Babson College, Arjun aims to combine #entrepreneurship, #projectmanagement, #engineering, and innovation in his future career, hoping one day to hold a leadership role within ACE Mentor Program of America.
