The Small Business Association for International Companies #SBAIC is thrilled to announce the election of Erika Davis as our new Chair. Erika has been an invaluable member of the #SBAIC board since January 2020. She brings a wealth of experience to her role as the founder and CEO of Davis Management Group (#DMG), a global event management and communications firm providing support to both federal government and commercial clients. Established in 2009 with a simple yet profound premise, DMG is dedicated to ensuring that its events and projects mirror the quality and values of its clients and their customers. Erika Davis has a rich history of service, having served as a six-year term board member of Rebuilding Together DC Alexandria (formerly Christmas in April). The AGLS is excited to share that we have officially launched #AfternoonsWithTheAGLS, our new series of free, bite-sized CLE events. The AGLS delivered the first two sessions in the series, ‘A Sense of Purpose - Career reflections and insights on government lawyering’ and ‘Through the looking glass - the Future of Government Lawyering’ in June and July, and we are busy planning more events for the second half of 2024. The two panel sessions, presented by panels of experienced #governmentlawyers, have been informative, insightful, and full of plenty of key take-aways and laughter. Attendee feedback has reflected the excitement, saying: 💡 Entertaining and interesting topic with engaging speakers. 💡 Fantastic panel (so down to earth, interesting, approachable and relatable), fascinating from beginning to end, great length of session, loved that the whole presentation was questions, I learned a lot and will take a lot away. 💡 I strongly think that we should have more session like this. It promotes good networking and gives good vibes. Another important aspect of the seminar was that the panel gave honest insights. Afternoons with the AGLS sessions are FREE and are delivered both virtually and in-person – with opportunities to network with your Government colleagues. Keep an eye out for further events in the upcoming months! Have an idea for a topic you’d like us to cover? Comment below or email agls@governmentlawyers.gov.au.
